I agree with the other guys. Once you paint a CVO the resale takes a big hit. The only way to do this is to buy different sheet metal and have that painted so you can put the stock (correct) paint back on the bike in the future.

What the cost of a set primed?

I don't know, but their are sometimes paint sets on Ebay that have been removed and sometimes sell pretty reasonable and then paint them.  May be harder for finding an 08-09 with the 6 gallon tank.

What the cost of a set primed?

Close too $4k for gas tank, side panels, front fender, rear fender, saddlebags, fairing shell (s) , fairing lowers

Even if you use the stock original parts, you've got a grand in labor taking the bike apart and putting it back together, and then even though you're might only be changing one aspect of the paint, you've still got a lot of prep and the actual paint work AND lastly clear coating the entire surface of all of the parts to keep everything uniform. This is probably a $5k job minimum using your orginal parts. Closer to $10k with new "tin" Baggers ain't cheap because there's so many items involved.

Sorry Pal - your not gonna get much support here either.  I know everyone customises their bike but you would have been better purchasing a stock bike and start from scratch - personally I think your off your rocker!!

You guys amaze me. I'm sorry if this pisses someone off and i do appreciate your concern, but I did not ask you for your opinion on whether I should paint it or not. Smiler, I think most people think we are all off our rocker for spending $35k for a motorcycle anyway. Then people go out and add THOUSANDS more on what THEY want to add and then spend 7-8K for trailers to haul around, painted to match the bike they ride of course and I get all this BS for simply saying I was "TOYING" with the idea???? Miker is the ONLY one that understood what I was after.

:soapbox:Sorry for the rant..... and I'm not knocking the trailers cause I'm gonna get one soon myself!! 8)

I would say go for it...........these bikes make not so good investments anyway, so it is yours

do what you want with it , it will be unique, something our bikes are not.............

also keeps them guessing where it came from

Now that I know it bothered you, I'ma gonna turn it up a notch.  ;D

you COULD but the trailer and have it painted to match the SEUC. And then have them both repainted later at the same time.  :nixweiss: The paint should be a perfect match that way.  ;D
