What is the console made of?

Has anyone had their console off, or enough parts removed to see what it is made of?  I'm hoping is is cast aluminum, but I wonder from time to time if it is plastique!

Shhhhhhhh!  Don't give those cheap clowns in Milwaukee any ideas.  Can't swear to what's on the very latest bikes, but my '05 is plated metal.

Yes, the 05 models are metal, but I do wonder about our flowing chrome center consoles on the cvo springers...they are described as "die cast"....that could mean aluminum or plastic. I will be very disappointed if it is plastic. I remember thinking how cheap when they started using plastic fenders on the FXD bikes around 2001.

05 thats a century ago my friend, must have been many moco cost saving excercises since then, i guess chrome wont stick any betta to plastic than it does to ally. Hmmm plastic console, not had reason to take mine off so sorry cant confirm that 1.

It is cast metal; just the sheer weight of it clearly shows that it is no plastic.

I had this stupid discussion in one of the Harley Spanish forums, where anyone could join and we had two or three stupid gitts with japanese "wanabees" (have nothing against the oriental custom bikes, but I do hate the guys who having one, they constantly bombard Harley owners about anything they can think of), just to minimise their frustration for not having one.
Anyway, as I changed the speedo on my bike, I used a file and took some shavings from an internal part of the console and took some picsthat I hung in the forum; This brainless guy knew all along that it was not plastic, but my aim were my other friends in the forum who were starting to doubt about what it was made of.
