New front suspension
« on: September 14, 2005, 08:54:57 AM »

For those of you with the new 06 bikes can you tell any difference in the way the
bike handles , especially at high speed, with the new redesighned suspension componets Harley installed ?
Thanks
Dave

New suspension?  Haven't read anywhere about redesigned suspension.  what are you referring to?  My understanding is that it is stock height Ultra with a cartridge.

Hmmmm.  Possibly to address front-end wobble? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Now, that's interesting.  It that is the case, it might be to address some of the stability/wobble problems that we've been encountering.    [smiley=nixweiss.gif]   spyder

The suspension is nice on the 06. I did like the 05 ride height but not the bottoming out .I can actually feel the Ultra suspension working. The Ultra engine and suspension in the stock form perform nicer than the e-glide classic IMHO I got the 06 last week and had the 1000mi done today so far no issues. The 06 does not ping like the 05 did. There had to be some kind of a re-map done. The front end has some kind of triple spring set-up this year I think it's ok for my riding style. Performance guys might think it a bit soft. Last dresser I had with batwing before 05 was a 91. I really feel the batwing is a handful at speed in the wind it was then and is still today. The frame mounted fairing is going to give more stability. BMW does wind tunnel testing on their bikes and you can tell something is good when you ride them. I would love to see an aerodynamic batwing someday. All said and done nothing rides like a Harley I guess that could be good or bad depends on what you expect from stock. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

From the part numbers for the 06, the tripple trees have not changed since 1995.

Number 20,19,21,17 are all new for the 06 Fairing Bikes.
Im asuming these parts are the same on the SE Ultra. Im still waiting on the parts catalog for them

The Nonfairing touring bikes do not have the dampening valves and  use all the same parts as previous years.

mr magoo, do you have the part numbers for the service and parts manuals for an 06SEU?  I could not find them in the 06 catalog.  TIA
