fine for killing a biker
« on: February 04, 2009, 07:23:58 PM »

Some of you may have read my post about my friend & riding buddy being killed over labor day
by a woman pulling in front of him after stopping at a stop sign.Of coarse she pleaded not guilty
of Failure to yield right of way.She was found guilty by a judge & fined $185.That will sure make people
sit up & take notice.Remember someplace there was a "kill a biker go to jail" push on.Sure wasn't New York.

That is only $92.50/ biker
That is some crazy penalty being handed down.

Amazing stuff going on now a days.

Just sux!! So sorry for the loss. In the eyes of the law we clearly aren't worth chit. Won't ease the pain but hope there comes some relief to the family in the civil courts. It all just sux.

Sad.  Unfortunately this happens far too often all over the country.  Juries are more concerned about old ladies spilling McDonalds coffee in their laps that they "didn't know it would be hot" than they are about the lives of bikers.

I hope that this may prompt a few more of us to join and support the AMA.  They're the only ones out there fighting for us.

We had one here where the guy was coming off the exit ramp of the interstate and the woman turned up the exit ramp going the wrong way.  While the young man lay there dying the Highway Patrolman made the comment that the biker deserved what he got.  Did it in front of the family.  The Patrolman did not even ticket the woman for any violation.  Needless to say a big investigation is still underway 2 years later.  Trooper is still on duty.  People are still pizzed about it.

Was a State Trooper.  He has since been moved to a desk job.  He should have been fired.  Last I heard the State AG is looking at it.  Our county PA has had issues with sex scandal, trial because of  abortion rights issues.  A real snake pit.

The comment was totally out of place but to then not even give the person a ticket for going the wrong way on street was a total insult.  Problem is by now most people have forgotten about it.

Hard to believe how society has cheapened the value of a life.

screw the AMA. I was a member for years til they took the stand that loud pipes risk rights. cut up my card and sent it
back to them.  join ABATE. they do more.  my ass has been saved more times then I care to think about by my loud pipes.

when you can see them looking in there mirror as you approach,, you know they see and hear you.
