now that's a very interesting console, I've never seen one like that .......  I wonder why they put those louvers in it   :nixweiss:

The center console was listed as a Harley Davidson Dash Panel w/Custom Louver Panel p/nHD-61414-82, obsolete. I've never seen one before. The louver area is attached to the lower panel area. Unique looking.

sweet !!

You have to be sure and come back and tell us how you like those shocks !

I've been considering those for my bike ...... considering them for about 18 months now .......  LOL
If I wasn't the cheap bastage that I am, I would have them already !!    :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:

Check eBay. Got em new for $179 delivered.

As for chroming the rear wheel. Being retired now, I'm watching the molla just a little more. It may still happen, just not quite yet.

Black diamond:  I'm just now catching up with this thead/project.  Good for you for keeping a FXR on the road.  I'm enjoying watching this--along with Howie's various projects.

About chroming that wheel--it sure would look good.  Have you gotten a price on that task?  Or you can always be patient and watch ebay.

Have not price it for this years project. But since I have to put up with winter, there's always next year.

I wish you would have kept it over in the FXR Section though.....it's where this build should belong.....Maybe it can get moved over to the FXR Section by the moderators.....

 :bananarock:

Regards,

Tim
.....

I thought about posting in the FXR section but that really is for the CVO models. Heck this scooter was before the MoCo thought about making CVO's. That's why I notified the FXR brotherhood (sisters too) in the FXR chatter. I'm cool with where ever the Mods think it belongs. I was just guessing!

.....
Jeff is correct even though it is an FXR the board in Custom Vehicle Discussion is for the CVO FXR's. For those of you that don't venture out of the FXR board and want to keep abreast of this build I suggest you use the new Bookmarks (<- Click that link) feature and save this thread for future reference.

Jeff good luck in your build I've always loved Evo's and still miss mine to this day. :2vrolijk_21:

Thanks Gary

I've all ways loved this bike. I got caught up in work back in the day and neglected her. But I never let her go even tho several have made offers. It will be great to be in the wind on her again. I mean see my son on her... :huepfenjump3: :) :D ;D

You don't find these rear master cylinder covers just lying around anymore.

Doc

You got any ol pic of the pull backs with these gauge mount? Love to see em if you do! I would think the angle of the dangle would make em hard to see.

JW

Your right about that. After digging up old pics, it looks like I ditched the guages for the pull backs and installed a small spedo. It was a hoot looking through those old pics though. I'll scan and post tonight. Doc

The kids are my nephew and niece on the bike in Laughlyn Nv. Their kids are about this age now. Notice the pull backs with small speedo, tool box instead of brain and cover, and aftermarket fender. God I miss that bike. It's good to see some folks keep and take care of them. Good luck on your Restoration, it's worth it. :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21: Doc

If been working on narrowing down my cam choices for several weeks/months now. If read a bunch, talked with Tim, Mike, Scoot and others. I had narrowed it down to the Andrew EV27 and Wood W6.

Grind   Timing(*)    Duration     Valve   TDC
                           .053        Lift

EV27      20/36        236        0.495      0.148
            46/14        240        0.495      0.166

W6      20/40        240        0.510      0.189
          42/18        240        0.510        0.178

The EV27 is a very good cam. However I know me well enough...I will be having the heads milled and a valve job done next year. The W6 should respond to this over a broarder torque range than the EV27. Of course by next year I mean perhaps this summer if I happen to be riding by Scott @ Hillside and have the money to get her done.

Anyone looking for a new EV27 let me know...got one for sale.  SOLD

Good excuse for a rode trip as any reason I can think of. Besides I'll get the girlfriend to ride along on her new Nightster. Also the special paint edition Heritage Softail off to the right was bought by my daughters friend.

Got a little more done on the restoration / build. Got the base Vivid Black on the sheet metal with several layers of clear coat on. All ready for the airbrush design.

These side covers were chrome but very weathered. Sand blasted them down to allow the paint to stick. Once finished the metal side covers should look better than painted plastic covers I had intended on using. Or so I'm told.  ::)
