Topic: Impatiently awaiting my SERG... now this news... (Read 3904 times)

Ordered August 9 2008 (6 months today) deposit put down including color choice.

All Hawaii bikes come through a Distributor (middleman) which is conveniently a subsidiary as is a competing dealer (Same parent company).

I wanted to see O/B and S/T... I was never a fan of banana yellow.... (no offense to those that own them)

Shortly after the order was submitted, competing dealer shows a O/B on the floor (no deposit)

Looked at it, bitched that the option for bike #1 was mine (color choice) Then decided orange was too bright for something I'd ride everyday. (Yes, I plan on riding it everyday) My deale said if I wanted it he'd get it... I declined....

So... I get information this week that the S/T is en route... cool... and then I find out a second S/T is right behind it!

Damn that pisses me off.

I guess there is room for two.

You'll have to point me in the direction of the better dealership to deal with there. being a rookie HD guy I need all the help I can get... lol

Hawaii is a rather limited market... so I know I'll see the other silver one... kind of takes the exclusivity out of the equasion.

Of course, the flip side is it gives me the ability to deal in a market that rarely deals...

The good news is..... I have an expected delivery date now... and even a VIN! 2/17/2009

You'd be surprised that I can ride 200 Miles on this rock in one day and not see any of my friends?

Its obvious Jimmy Durante (The nose of a license plate lite) has left your bike...

How did you remove the license plate lite and relocate the plate higher up?

When I first ordered mine, I wanted Silver, Orange, then Yellow as preference of color in that order. My deposit was for first choice as all the bikes route thru the distibutor in Hawaii. There was no money down for one in the State with the exception of my order and yet the first one went to the dealership that was a subsidiary of the Distibutor's owner.

My dealer raised hell as he had a deposit... but it came down to being able to ride O/B or Y/G as a daily ride. I think the color would give me a headache riding all day in the bright, warm Hawaii sunshine.... (Riding in circles or not) So I passed... and said I'd wait for Silver... hawnbear has the O/B, the Yellow is still sitting on the floor of Maui HD and now 2 Silver ones are en route... 6 months after the order was placed... Ironic... I should have travelled and bought one, Rode the crap out of it then brought it back here.... and I still would have had one before this one got here!

Of the 3 Dealerships on Oahu, I deal with South Seas HD in Waipahu.

The techs are top notch.... the staff is awesome... shoot me a PM when youre arriving and we'll hook up for some riding.

1500 miles AND 6 months old!

It'd have 15,000 in 6 months if I lived up there! (I do 20K a year on this rock... with some other rock-hopping thru the year)

Aloha 2009_FLTRSEI3. Just curious - what's an 09 SERG go go for on Oahu? I hear the markup for other goods is high, is it the same for a H-D? I didn't know Hawaii had an inter-island ferry. How long has that been in effect and how long has it been out of service? Man, island hopping on a ferry certainly increases your opportunity to ride especially if you're going to the Big Island.

I understand others are paying a big premium... Retail is $38K + fees OTD. I understand one guy recently paid close to $50K for one!

I got a good deal... but am unable to disclose the actual $$$ amount...

I work closely with the dealer on HOG and dealer events, etc, so they cut me a lot more slack than Joe-walk-in....

On the Ferry... check Hawaiisuperferry.com for more information. It currently serves only Maui and Oahu, but service to KAuai and HAwaii should be active my next year!
