Dealer did say he has seen the comp spring load loose fit before and has had to add springs to it to tighten up the clamp load, to stop the rattle, the comp bolt was tight. The starter hang up could have been caused be a bad clutch basket which has been replaced also.  Doc

Which Harley dealer would actually confirm that they know something may go wrong?

They ended up replacing everything in the primary. It was all out of wack even the auto adjuster. always thought the clutch was a hard pull for a hydro clutch, like butter now, shifts better and is quiet.  Doc

Anyone else have a loud primary,? I think it may have to due with the spring pak. MOCO should have included the SE spring pak. Doc

The Compensator Nut (Torque) has been an on going problem for awhile. Check my replies to Porthole's Post Alternator Rotor & Sapcer Damage.

The '07 and later bikes use a different design geezer, so the bulletin for the older bikes doesn't apply.  When Harley changed the primary for the '07 they went to a bolt for the compensator sprocket versus the long nut on the older bikes, and they made the spring pack part of the rotor versus the separate part on the older version.  Early bikes had reports of low spring tension which allowed the compensator to "bottom" and produce a clunk.  One fix was to add an additional spring to the pack.  The other was a touch of marketing genius often used by H-D to "fix" their screw-ups, they came out with a Screamin' Eagle heavy duty version that the customer could purchase.  I'm not sure about anyone else, but I tend to get hostile when a manufacturer expects me to pay top dollar for their product and then pay more to fix their quality and design issues.
