Annie Bea Jean Labiche, September 6, 1998-February 27, 2009
« on: February 28, 2009, 01:36:37 AM »

It is with very, very, heavy hearts that Renea and I must inform all of you who have been so supportive of us over the past 2.5 years, and in particular, this past week, that last night at 11:16pm, Annie Bea's spirit departed this earth and went to the Rainbow Bridge to be with her Sister, Sassy Girl, and her Brother, Drake King.  She passed very peacefully with Renea, Stephanie, Springer, Little Evo and I right by her while she was on her pallet in our bedroom.  She took a final breath, closed her beautiful, gorgeous, Single Malt Scotch Whisky colored eyes for the final time, exhaled, and went to a much, much better place.
The Girls are grief stricken.  The remaining Boxers are deeply saddened.  Right now, I'm simply......numb.  We all find some comfort that she passed at home with her entire family around her, while on her favorite pallet.  There was no trauma, no pain, no suffering........just PEACE.  She gave 100% of her 10.5 years to Loving us.  I'll speak for myself and mention that I owe her an eternal debt for her Unconditional Love.  She was always there for me, Loved me unconditionally, and no matter how bad I felt, she always had a way of taking away the pain and making me feel so much better.
When I brought her home, she was just two days shy of eight weeks old.  I could hold her in one hand.  And I did......behind my back.......as Renea came home from her job when we lived on Appleton Drive in Clarksville, Tennessee just outside the confines of Fort Campbell where I worked as a young Army Aviation Warrant Officer.  Renea was tickled pink.  Sassy Girl had a new Buddy.  And we Loved that Boxer oh so much.
She will always be my "Puppy Girl," my TBB (Tiny Baby Boxer), my sweet Princess Angel Annie Bea.

Rest easy, my Sweet Strawberry Blonde Girl.  Mommy and Daddy Love you more than words can express.  Our only hope is that we gave you a great life.  Give Sassy and Drake a kiss for us.  You are at the Rainbow Bridge now.  No more arthritis, no more pain, no more cancer, no more abdominal troubles.  Just God's Grace.  We will see you again.  I Love You So Much!

Very, very sorry to hear this Henry...brings tears, buddy.  She's in a good place now, and you know that she was always given the most love possible.  No way to adequately express my sorrow...they are our best friends, and always seem to be there when we need them...glad you and your family could do the same for her when she needed you most.

Henry,
It is with great sorrow I read of this. :bigcry: I know how much Annie was loved and cared for by your family and how much love she gave back to all of you. I'm at a loss for words right now, as I know there is nothing I can say to ease the pain that you all are going through. Take solace in knowing that you both were lucky to have each other and she will always be with you in spirit. She is looking down on you and your family from heaven now smiling and sending thanks for all the care and love you gave her. Take care of yourself, the rest of your family and know that we will be here for you.

Sorry for your loss Henry. I know the support Annie Bea brought you and your family for ever will hold strong in your Hearts. I am having the pleasure of caring for my Daughter's Boxer Miss Susie Q for the last 2 1/2 year account they are stationed overseas with the Marine Corp. This little girl has brought countless hours of enjoyment to our life's and I can relate to Annie Bea's ability to raise your spirit. Susie Q is approaching 9 years of age and her face is starting to show her age but we still see the pup in her. We again grieve with your loss keep you spirits high.

Henry and Renae, I can't begin to tell you how heavy my heart is right now.  It seemed as though Annie Bea was coming along well from the latest surgery.  She will be without the pain of her recent ailments and in a loving place now.  Boxers do bring us so much love when in the time we are fortunate enough to share with them.

Henry and Renea, so very sorry to read this here!  I know how much joy she has brought you over the years and it is never easy saying goodbye to a family member.  Take comfort that she is in a better place and remember the happy times you were able to spend together.  Again, our deepest condolences.

All,
Your warm thoughts and well wishes are greatly appreciated.  Thank you so much.

Annie Bea spent the remainder of the evening on her pallet.  We called Dr. Audrey, and she was absolutely broken apart.  Terrible.  I mean, we're all busted up pretty good around here, but she was simply stricken.  I covered Annie Bea with a blanket, Evo went with Stef, Springer stayed with us, and we all tried to get some sleep.  I woke this morning at 6am, woke Renea, and we readied ourselves to take Annie Bea to Dr. Audrey for the final time.  We are fortunate there is an on-site crematory at our veterinary hospital, so it is comforting to know that we will get Annie Bea back instead of just a scoop full of dog ashes.
Getting Annie Bea out of the house and into the back seat of the ton truck was painful.  She weighs 80 pounds.
We gave her to Dr. Audrey for cremation after the short drive to the vet hospital.

Renea and I managed to eat a little this morning.  We're grieving.......heavily.........10.5 years is a long time, especially for a Boxer, so this hurts.......even though it was so peaceful.  Everything is different around here now, and it is going to take some time to adjust.  One thing tho'.............

Springer and Evo and working some SERIOUS overtime to make us feel better.  It is difficult to be sad when one is around them.  You will smile.....no matter how much you hurt.  We're Boxer people.  Always have been.  Always will be.  And if we have go through this grief every so often, so be it, because the Love these Angels bring into our home is well worth it.  Boxers are Lovers, Clowns, Caretakers, Couch Potatoes, Guards.......what is not to Love.

I'm very sorry for your loss. We have had to cope with a loss of part of our family 5 times now. It is always heart wrenching. However, we take solace in the fact that they were all well cared for, very loved, and every one of my babies passed peacefully in my arms. Their memories will be with me and my family forever. You are in my prayers.

HML - so sorry to hear about your loss! We know how it feels to lose a great companion and, with the oldest of our 3 Springers at 15, we are just a few months from living your story in our home. It's no problem to carry Russ up and down the stairs several times a day as it is just a little payback for the years of companionship and joy he has brought into our lives. Our hope, like yours was for Annie Bea, is to make the last months of his life as enjoyable as possible.

We grieve with you at your loss and hope that, over time, the memories of your great friend outweigh the sadness of her passing.

Too..........busted up............to copy/paste everyone's latest wellwishes for our family and condolences for the passing of our sweet Angel.  PLEASE know that we very much appreciate everyone's support.  This is a grief we've never experienced.  I don't remember the first two hurting this bad, but they probably did......one probably more.......but I've LONG since blocked it in order to survive.  Sure, we'll move past Annie Bea's passing, but just like Drake and Sassy, she'll pitter patter across my mind and leave her paw prints on my heart for the rest of my days.  They never REALLY leave us.  I can feel her in my heart right now.  I always say, "It is what it is."  Well, that is really true in this case.  Really Love and Miss that old Girl!

Thank you!

Henry,

I'm truly deeply saddened to hear about Annie Bea's passing. I know how truly attached you can become with your dog. I live alone with Mickey, my dog, and I sleep with him every night. He's my best friend in the world. The thought of not having him depresses me beyond my ability to express it. He's almost 11 now and I know the day will come when he's gone. I can only imagine what you and Renae are going through now. Again, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss and wish you both a recovery that is bareable.

Thank you, Randall.  The grief is overwhelming at times.......moreso now than immediately after she passed.  Coming to terms with her permanent absence is tough.  Even the smallest reminder turns on the tear squirters.  Never felt grief like this.

Dear Henry and Renea ~

I am so very sorry to read of this. I am partial to Old English Sheepdogs and I have two, Sophia is 12 1/2 and Sydney is almost 7. They do bring so much unconditional love and joy into our lives. I feel so deeply for your loss. As you said I am glad Annie Bea was in her favorite spot with the beloved family. I will keep all of you in my prayers as you suffer through this loss.

We've been spending the past few days "adjusting" to the void, with which we were left last Friday.  We got Annie Bea's ashes on Tuesday.  Audrey gave them to us in a REALLY nice oaken "Strawberry Blonde" urn.  We placed the urn in our corner curio with Sassy's urn.  There are small Boxer statues and sympathy cards around Annie Bea's urn.  Very fitting tribute to such a fine Boxer.  The healing has begun, but adjusting to the upset in Boxer equilibrium has been challenging.  Annie Bea was the Alpha Boxer......The Grand Matron.......and Springer and Evo knew it.  Now she's not here to corral them.  Springer has been rather "clingy," but Renea and I have appreciated that.  Evo has been pretty needy too, but when she thinks she isn't getting the attention she deserves........she turns into a holy terror.  She's gone to all three bathrooms, grabbed the loose ends of toilet paper rolls and ran through the house, slinging toilet paper all over the place........and when she gets busted, she sits there, looks at us with her chin in the air as if to say "Whatcha gonna do about it."  She's pooped in the great room........a complete regression, since she is housebroken.  She's torn up a pair of my Red Wing house shoes, tattered Renea's riding boots..........just acting out.  So we're having to retrain both Boxers.  Springer is too submissive to take the lead, and Evo.......well.......crap.......I don't know what we're gonna do just yet, but we will Love them both through this transition.

Again, thanks to all for the condolences and well wishes.

I haven't been on the site much lately and just read this post. I am so sorry to hear about Annie Bea  :(, I know she will be missed greatly. It's NEVER an easy decision.

I am thinking about you guys and it sounds like that puppy is keeping you guys pretty busy!!
