Need advice for riding gear for my lady
« on: April 26, 2009, 09:48:34 PM »

If you saw my thread http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=35551.0  it was a list of what gear I bought....

My lady is getting ready to start riding again,  but I need help on safety and compromise...

Helmet is all set... We have a Vanson VentMax jacket for the super hot weather...

Need recommendations on a leather armored jacket (there is NOONE that stocks ladies vanson's so its impossible to get a fitting)  and more importantly what to wear below....  I use BOHN lower armor and draggin jeans,  but she isnt going to go for that...  She wants some that she can slip over normal jeans that will provide armor and skid protection...

I have googled to death and cant find anything... Chaps with armor would work,  but I cant find any!!!

HELP!

You might try some of the Joe Rocket stuff. They make a women's pant that goes over jeans with padding and armour...http://www.joerocket.com/catalog/index.cfm/124/176/Pants/Ladies_Alter_Ego_Pants They also have armoured jackets here.

Some of the Harley jackets have armour...such as the FXRG...either the nylon or the leather. They are rather pricey though. I have the nylon one and it's waterproof as well.

Was just shopping for the same womans coat for the wife, settled on the FXRG Balck textile jacket, Padded in all the safe zones but didnt make her feel bulky or cramped, the others she felt like Mrs. Michelin man!!  Ive had good luck with mine so that also helped!!

I think I may have her covered on the pants.. Deer Creek had a blowout on leather over-pants ($400) reduced to $179!  I have heard they make good stuff!!!

Next it a jacket.....  I want vanson,  but none of the dealers near me carry womens or know how to size it...

FXRG, we have the Mid weight & light weight. pants and jackets, great stuff. works well. when temps get under freezing, we just ad the heated liners. the light weight you can wear up to 85, after that ad hydro vest.
The new guardian technology is great.

1000% Leather.... I love my Vanson,  and I would like her in one too but I cant find any shops that stock ladies or even know how to measure for a womens...  I just cant bring myself to spend the $$$ on a FXRG from harley knowing it was made overseas and is just a little cheaper than a much better vanson (no offense)

The leather overpants from Fox Creek are beyond words in quality and thickness....  But they dont make a jacket for ladies that has or accepts armor :(

I bought her a Vanson VentMAX for the time being.... It is super abrasion resistant and had armor,  and she can wear whatever jacket she wants under it...  It is just fugly,  but functional.....

the search continues........  Oh yea,  it doesnt help that she is a size zero! (well in trying to find gear that is :)

Try www.jackets4bikes.com       My sister-in law has purchased I believe armour bike jackets from them.
