After having done this conversion myself and providing as much information as possible to fellow members, I thought that this summary might be helpful. Maybe it could be added to sticky thread section.

Here is an overview of the entire labor process and parts used for the detachable tour pak and Hawg Wired “Four In The Face” conversion:

The way to tackle this job is to remove the amp from under the tour pak, the tour pak itself, and the overlay harness that runs from the amp all the way up under the front fairing. To accomplish this remove your saddlebags, seat, canopy/console, rear tank bolt (so you can lift the tank slightly), and front fairing. Working from the rear to the front of the bike, unplug overlay harness from amp and work your way forward cutting the zip ties and replacing them as you remove just the overlay harness. You will be left with four male and four female connectors, left and right rear and left and right front. You must connect the left and right male / female connectors that will remain after removing the harness in both the rear and the front of the bike (under the fairing) which will leave you with the same wiring setup as a stock Ultra Classic. All four speakers will then be powered with the stock HK radio. Next attach the detachable tour pak hardware to the tour pak and then mount the rear docking hardware to the bike itself. I then used the Harley lay down license plate bracket in place of the bracket that was mounted to the tour pak. I also installed a Dakota Digital antenna under the fairing to handle the am, fm, and weather band reception. When riding with the tour pak detached, coil up the remaining wires under the seat (antenna wires, rear speaker wires, tour pak light etc...). You will be able to use the cb radio only with the tour pak attached and cb antenna connected unless you add an external cb antenna to use with the tour pak detached. I opted for the Corbin “Young Guns” seat to complete the transformation yielding a more streamlined look with the tour pak detached. I used the Hawg Wired “four in the face” system which is comprised of a 150 watt amp and two 75 watt satellite amps all of which get mounted under the front fairing. Also included are four CX series speakers. They are rated at 75 watts each. The 150 watt amp drives the two CX speakers that replace the existing fairing speakers and the two 75 watt amps drive the two speakers that will get mounted into the lower glove boxes (converted to speaker housings), thus the “Four In The Face” terminology. The sound is fantastic. I wired my setup so that when I attach the tour pak those two speakers are powered by the amp built into the stock HK radio giving me sound from six speakers total. The wiring of the Hawg Wired “Four In the Face” system is not at all difficult and requires no cutting or splicing of your existing wiring if you choose to wire the system for six speaker operation. I just did this (thanks to everyone for the info to help me get going) and took a bunch of pictures so here they are.

I used same PN's for docking hardware and Detachable Tour-Pak kit but used the street Glide license plate, tail light housing, and turn signal kit PN 53702-04A.

The turn signal bar is need because the underside has the light for the license plate here's a pic:

Just to help clarify things- what you are going to do is unplug the overlay that got plugged into the original existing wiring (at the factory) to support the extra amp, and get rid of it.
Start at the back and disconnect the main amp plug.
Then go to right rear speaker, left rear speaker, power connector, left front, and right front speaker. (right meaning while sitting on bike).
Anywhere you come to a connection unplug it, remove the overlay, and reconnect what is left. IT IS SIMPLER THAN IT SOUNDS.
I removed the Tour-Pak light, electric lock wire, FM, & CB wires using the instructions in the quick- disconnect kit
Then I removed the speaker pods from the Tour-Pak, and then removed the Tour-Pak.
I haven't added a Hawg-Wired set-up because I don't listen to music on the bike.
I have a Pingel remote mount for the CB antenna

Right now to hook up the connectors to the speaker pods I will have to pull the covers off of the speakers, run the wires from their hiding place under the seat, thread them through the holes in the pod, connect them, and put the covers back on.

I'm going to cut the short connector off of the speakers, and cut the long connectors from the bike, swap them, and use crimp splices with heatshrink to hook them back up.

Then then pigtails will be hanging out of the speakers and the short connectors will be sitting under the seat, so it should just take a minute or two to hook em up.

I'll the same thing with the light and lock wires- I don't use the FM and I've already relocated the CB antenna.

I want to thanks everyone that helped with this- I'll add your names in another post-

So Ive read this whole thread a couple times and I havent seen this question. Does anyone know if its possible to mount the stock amp up in front (batwing) fairing. Because I dont need to upgrade my system, Im happy with the sound I get from it right now. I just want a detachable tour-pak and only use the two front speakers when TP off, but all four with TP back on. Im sure I'll have to lengthen and/or shorten wires, thats not a big deal. Just need to know if stock amp can be mounted up front............Thanks, Grandpa

grandpa, the amp is too long (front to back) according to my buddy who tried fitting the CVO amp (amp p/n 76192-06A) in his '06 Ultra two evenings ago. He also said it is too wide due to the mounting flanges used to secure the amp to the tour pak. These flanges also serve to enclose and seal the sides of the amp. He had been using the Hog Tunes amp mounted atop the headunit which barely fits. He said the CVO amp is about an inch longer. So, according to him the CVO amp won't fit inside the fairing. He wasn't going to mount the CVO amp inside the fairing because he has the tour pak permanently mounted, but he checked because I asked him to see if it would fit. I considered installing this CVO amp inside the fairing on my bike and decided I didn't want to take on the wiring issues, but was curious to know about fitment.

According to Hawg-Wired's website, the dimensions of its four channel amp are: 6.50”W x 3.75”D x 1.50”H. HT doesn't provide dimensions for their amp, but perhaps someone with a HW amp can describe how tight a fit that amp is and, with the measurements of the CVO amp, conclude for yourself if the amp will fit.

Forget about the CB when the TP is removed

J&M does make a hidden CB antenna for the fairing. Never tried it though....

I don't use CB with tour pak removed, but J&M makes an under fairing cb antenna if you want to go that route.

I have one of the J&M hidden CB antenna units
on order and let you know how it works. I rarely
have a need for the CB, but saw this from J&M
and thought it would be nice to have on the bike
in the case that I may want to talk to Smokey or the Bear!

I like to have the CB for group rides, I use the pre 09 antenna relocation kit like on the SEEG's and can still use the CB, but have to use the older whip antenna. I think I have a pic, I'll try to post when I'm not goofing off at work...

I recently installed the J&M in-fairing CB antenna. It worked fine for the couple of group rides I've done but I haven't tested it for range, yet.

For those who may wish to retain the OEM CB antenna cable for use when their detachable tour pak is installed on the bike, the J&M unit has a second cable for connecting the OEM cable to it. So, you can use the in-fairing antenna when the tour pak (and its CB antenna) are off the bike, or use the OEM tour pak CB antenna when the tour pak is on the bike.

In this picture, you can see the J&M "Flexpower" box of the CB antenna with two cables exiting the toward the bottom. One of those two goes to the CB module, the other can be connected to the OEM CB antenna cable that was disconnected from the CB module to install the J&M unit:

The duct tape was used to temporarily locate the the thin antenna wire. It was subsequently removed and the kit supplied plastic, self-adhesive wire clips installed.

If you would prefer not to have the HD two-up detachable mounting hardware (chrome hoops) sticking out the rear of the bike, consider the Milwaukee Bagger detachable luggage rack that uses the HD solo detachable tour pak rack/passenger backrest mounting hardware. Here's a picture of the rack and HD mounting hardware it uses:

Here is a link to the MB product that is a newer version of the rack shown in the above picture. The newer version uses the HD latch mechanism, among other improvements.

Hi, new here - I do realize this is a very old thread but I didn't want to start a new one.
I have a 2007 FLHTCUSE2 and I am trying to perform this surgery.

I was able to remove the pack and overlays from the rear speakers, however I wasn't able to coil up the wires enough for the seat to fit back on.
Does anyone have any tips for this?
