2009 Roadglide - last year?
« on: May 14, 2009, 05:41:06 AM »

Hi, I'm Bob from Coca, Florida.  I have a 100th anniversary Road Glide and just heard that HD will stop making them after this year.  Can anyone confirm this?  I really did not intend to buy a new bike this year, but if this is my last chance, I will.  Going to the dealer today to look at the CVO RoadGlide and any stock ones if they have one.  Most dealers down here in Florida don't sell RoadGlides.  I asked the sales manager at Daytona in 2002, and he said he never sold one.  I asked him if he ever had one on the floor and he said no.  Gee, I wonder why he never sold one.  Anyway, I also wonder if the new RoadGlides accept the Tour Pack.  They don't show up on the accessories when you select the Roadglide.  I still have my Road King Custom Tour Pack and Side bags and would install them on the new Road Glide if I can.  Would like to hear from anyone on these issues.

Welcome to the site from SW MO! There is a couple of threads on your question. You might check them out. To answer your other question, yes the road glide will accept a tour pack.

Hello & welcome to the site.

If you are a motivated buyer, my local dealer has an orange 09 SERG on the floor ready to go.

I'm not sure whether the RG is in its swan song or not but I do enjoy the parlor game of guessing what the Moco will do.  Or won't do.  For my nickel's worth, dropping the RG would be a mistake.  But in the current environment, I can understand why a low-volume / unique fairing model might not make the cut.  Sure would hate to see it go, especially after they have just now seemed to get it perfect on the new bagger frame.

My guess is they'll make a RG Ultra before dropping it.  Wasn't the SERG the hottest SE model?  If so, doesn't make sense that they'd drop the line.  We'll see.

Hi, Bob
I was told there will be a road glide ultra for 2010. so it would be the standard road glide with the cb radio and all the other accessories.

pak.

Thanks for the welcomes and info on the threads for the answer(s).  I guess my search used the wrong terms.
I am sitting at home on Sunday after waiting all day Friday at the dealer to pickup my SERG.  Seems Florida does not send titles to owners anymore, they have a new electronic title system that you have to ASK for a copy of your title.  You will get it when they get around to printing it and then mailing it.  So I have to wait for Monday to go get a copy to take to the dealer.  I tried to let them just keep the bike over the weekend and I would bring the title in on Monday, no way.  I tried to even pay the difference and then they will take the bike on a trade-in on
Monday...no way.  I think the OCD is terminal.
Oh well, get to take the wife and kid to the airport on Tuesday evening and then go get the bike on Wednesday.  Should have the 1000 mile checkout done by the start of the next week and still have a week before they get back.
I will post pictures when I get the bike and come down to earth.

Hi Bob, welcome to the site.  My dealer says this is the last year for Roadies and all I've read and heard confirms that.  If you are interested in a bike and fair deal, call Rick Hawksley (Hawk) and HD of North Texas, in Carrollton just north of Dallas.  They have 2 Orange/Black in stock and Hawk will treat you right.  Tell him Tim Ingram referred you.  His number is 972.245.1492.  They are selling at MSRP and not the usual $2,500 over MSRP.  Hawk also rides SERG but he's on the slower silver one instead of Orange.  :)

Thanks for the welcome DOGOLS, and to Peddler, it isn't sunny up here in Central Florida.  At least it stopped raining steady enough to ride some today, alittle.  We are getting our yearly allotment of rain this week, the wife and 3.5 year old are in Denver, I have a new bike, and can't ride.  Dammnit
