New England in November
« on: November 06, 2005, 02:04:57 PM »

OK, Saturday was just a perfect day to ride here in New England for November, Low Seventies and Sunny.  We headed out and took back roads up to Auburn, MA.  Stopped at Sheldon's to pick up the GPS Cradle and check on the Deuce...still waiting on painted tins...this is killing me.  Saw a Blue/Black SEEG on Rt. 20 just east of the shop.  From there we took some more back roads and went to Framingham and Paramount HD to pick up my replacement floorboard.  About a mile from the shop passed another Blue/Black SEEG.  Pulled into the lot and there was another Blue/Black SEEG, that means FOUR for the day including ours...practically a CVO rally!

Talked for about 20 minutes before Lou the service manager asked if I wanted to bring the bike in to swap the floorboards...I had intended to to it myself since I did not make an appointment.  Anne and I went in and talked with Andy to confirm that my name is on their first Charcoal CVO Ultra whenever that comes in. [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]  He also gave us some tips from his 5 week trip west.  While talking, Lou came over and said I really should do the brakes (17250 miles) and that they would do it while they have it there in the shop.  I was impressed...they could have ignored it since it was 3 in the afternoon on a Saturday, but he made time for the brakes.  So I had them done and when I checked out, he was surprised that I had over 2000 miles since mid-September...especially since the work order was still open....so it looks like they took a long test ride!

We finally left at 3:30 and took some back roads back stopping at the Great American Pub on Rt 138 in Raynham for dinner...we recommend it if you ever find yourself on I-495 in MA around Exit 8.

I should have let you know I would be in the area...I did not even think of it!

I changed the Snow Blower oil in the spring.  Just got in from my "Chores": mowing the lawn, Leaf Blowing, Change the mower deck to a plow blade, the only thing I didn't do was the oil in the tractor...it needs a new battery and I just did not want to jump it for a third time!  I will do that next weekend when I winterize the Rebel.

Gents,

Every time I read these type posts, I am pleased to live in the South during the Fall and Winter Months  Granted, during the time you posted, our temps where in the low 80's.  However as days move on, there becomes more of a difference.  Here lies the issue for me.

The simple fact we are seeing a discussion of snow blower oil changes makes me thankful.  However, I am quick to point out there can be enjoyment to the season changes.  I just have never experienced them in such a way that others have.

None the less, there are very few days I can not get on one of the bikes and have some level of pleasure and for that I THANK GOD.  For me, the simple matters of life can make the difference.

To those of you in the North, GOD BLESS YOU can I trust the season brings you what you desire.

It does make us appreciative of the weather in Daytona come the end of Feb.  Tomorrow, more yard work to prepare for snow...line the driveway with these reflective sticks so I avoid eating a bush with the blower.

... discussion of snow blower oil changes ...

Seeing Jock's signature reminds me of the lack of seasons here in North Cuba.  TwoLane's pictures of his Granddaughter frolicking in the leaves was somehow strange to me this year.  This is the first year in which I haven't seen any Fall color at all and I miss it.  True, I'm still wearing shorts and T-shirts in 80 degree weather but part of me really misses the cool, fresh air of Autumn.  I don't, however, want to learn how to change the oil in a snow blower. :)

Oh no, don't get me wrong--I think that's a beautiful picture and I've always enjoyed a *brief* winter experience.  That's "brief", as in "I don't need to know how to operate a snow blower". :)

But Mike, the joy of getting a little bit cooler for at least a week.... VA is like that, is that in that short spell of cold, it kills the bugs.  And we lived for a year and a half in Savannah, GA.  Yes pretty, spanish moss is oh so romantic, but the BUGS!  OH MY!  They are as big as kittens.

I like a little seasonal change, our summers don't get so hot you run from car to air conditioned locale for the whole summer, the winters may need a little layering, but it is minimal.

You know, the more I look around.... where ever we are living today, and riding a CVO when we can.... we are living pretty darn good!

The alternative makes me sceeeeeered!

You're preaching to the choir, Mrs. We.  Though Florida is growing on me, I still reeaaallly miss North Carolina.  For much of the same reasons you speak of.

OK, it's 70º at my house right now...and the bike is still there.  So I told my boss that I have to leave early today instead of Tomorrow.  I should be in the saddle in about an hour!

as Spyder would say, HAR!

Mrs,

So correct on the bug facts and the humidity is unbearable in the summer.

Naitram,

I hear ya too...We are planning a trip towards that area in December, hope to see some of that if all goes as planned.
