New Springer rider here....l
« on: June 22, 2009, 01:34:38 AM »

Just wanted to say hello to the group.... I took delivery of an 09 CVO Springer (black with green flames) last week.

I've been using this board as a research tool in the process of buying the bike, and many of your posts were very helpful.  Considering I'm going from a Ducati Superbike to a retro-styled cruiser is a big leap of faith.  But, I'm here with 100 miles under me on the new bike and I'm loving the change.

Thanks again!

Welcome Scott and congrats to you,

I was in a similar position a few years back as I had spent 19 years riding sports bikes..... Each one faster and more trick than the last... until one day I clipped a car that pulled out in front of me whilst I was pulling in excess of 150 mph!.... Luckily I managed to save it but nearly had a heart attack in the process!! While riding that same day I noticed a new HD dealership had opened and stopped for a look....Coincidence huh?!! I went in got chatting and liked what I saw...So I took a test ride on a Sportster Custom and suddenly I noticed the roads were wider...I could see over hedges..People passing by werent staring at me with the usual frown.... and I began to feel more in tune with the world...I was hooked! Since that day I have owned four Harleys, travelled across Europe many times met many interesting people and made lots of new friends that I just would never of done had I not changed my bike. I hope you enjoy your new bike as much as I am... And if you get 1/10th the enjoyment I do then you'll be a very happy boy!!
Good luck my friend and hope to hear more from you over time,
Mark

Welcome from another newbie.  My wife rides a Ducati Monster, what an absolutely fun bike.  Did you keep the Duc?

I still have the Ducati (749) for now.... It is fun to ride, but a workout.  One hour in the seat is like an hour at the gym.  Quite honestly, I've been really surprised by how nimble the Springer is.

Pics attached for those who asked...  Thanks for all the posts -- I'll be around!
