Man, #5 for the Ultra?  They just can't go a year without that one in the line?  Must be a very profitable model for them.

Wrongway,

Would not the Street Glide be the FLHXSE. The FLTRX would be some kind of Road Glide, yes/no?

They're not going to stop the cash cow.  I've found, in my travels, that just about every dealer I've visited, they have 1-2 SERGs on the floor, but none of them have an SEUC, and they can't get any...I guess that's why Fat Bastard can charge $44K for them and get that price.   :nixweiss:

I apologize for the quick follow up to my previous post but I have to say that I'm extremely happy if these CARB reports are correct in that there will NOT be a CVO Road Glide SERG4. That means the SERG3's will be a hot item - well in my mind anyway.

I hope you're right, but based on what I'm seeing on the showroom floors, they'll be offering them at a discount soon...the Road Glide is just not a popular model, hense that's why they're dropping it from the model line.   Now a Street Glide with the Road Glide rear end is going to be one sweet ride.   Hmmmm, wonder if all they're going to do is change the fairings on what would have been the '10 SERG... :nixweiss:

The 2000 road glides have not appreciated any, so it is in your mind only. You can buy a good example low mileage unit for 12- 15K triple red,
not a great investment and neither will the 2009's be.

We buy them because we want them, not because they will be a good investment.

they are terrible investments.

if you want an Orange and black 2009 they can be had for less than 30K brand new

Agreed, didn't buy mine for investment purposes - its not exclusive enough for that but if my memory serves me correct, the SERG3 is the only one time run of a CVO - they run in two's or three's but in the case of the Ultra fives. Whatever the case may be, I'm really happy that I got one and will Cherish it for at least 10 years or so. I also love seeing the original 2000 and 2001 SERG's and think there are special as I rarely see them around my neck of the woods.

If there is to be a FLHXSE it still will not be a SEEG. They would have to add lowers at minimum ('04/'05's both had them, and '05's had vented lowers), and a chopped TP ('05's). Even if they did that the designation would still be different FLHTCSE vs FLHXSE. :nixweiss:

The FLXXX is intriguing. As it is listed as the same weight as the Triglide, I wonder if it is going to be 2LN's Servicar? I can see him now selling ice cream for the back of it.  ;D

As for the FLHTCUSE⁵, while disappointing as an owner, it's not surprising. This bike is their "top of the line" motorcycle with the biggest markup. It just makes business sense in thses economic times to get as much as you can.

BTW, Golden Isle has a FLHTCUSE⁴ Ruby Red on the floor.

I would think a FLTRX  would be a Road glide done up like a street glide.  A FLTRU sounds like an ultra road glide. Both would sell in my opinion.

If this is so and there will be no SERG, I'm happy   :huepfenjump3: I decided to take the plunge. Actually, I'd still be happy   :huepfenjump3: even if they did decide to do a SERG4. Doesn't matter if the SERG3 is rare or not. I already have a rare bike in my '03 S/B Anniversary Road King   ;) :confused5:

I found the engine sizes available to be interesting... 97 cu/1584cc - 103 ci/1688cc - 110 ci/1802cc

1584cc is a 96 cubic inch.  None of the engine sizes are anything different at all then.  Standard bikes 96", Tri- Glide 103", Screamin' Eagle 110".  What's so interesting about that?

The following models are listed with 103 ci/1688cc, not just the tri-glide:

Well, the engine size is nothing new to us, but those models sure are.  Looks like was have some Screamin' Eagle Juniors on the way.  Are the models with a P possibly police models?  That would make some sense with the 103".

I have been glued to the California Resources Board Certifications for months and the 2010 information just posted. You can go to the below link and look at the HD models for 2010. Yes, there are Road Glides FLTRU (Ultra?) and FLTRX (lowered?). Check it out and past it on!

These forms have been full of errors in the past, and most likely are now as well. A Rocker Crossbones would be completely unthinkable. And some of the other "names" leave room for interpretation as well. The CVO Softail could be another Springer, or as I was told would be a CVO Softail Custom. The X's are certainly placeholders for other letters, hence these may contain the really juicy news. There is almost four weeks until the dealer meeting and, as far as I know, the CARB info was never out that early before.

FLHXSE

No surprise that they'd make a CVO Street Glide.

FLHTCUSE5 (or does it say 6)

It says 5, which makes sense. The 2009 is the FLHTCUSE4. Five straight years, though? Okay. I guess.

The Fat Bob is still on for next year (FXDFSE2) and a SoftTail (FXSTSE). Anybody know which SoftTail that is?

Last year it was only days before the models were officially revealed when the CARB info was made available.  I completely agree that we should not take this list as anything etched in stone at this point.  Like Louis said, they've had mistakes before and probably more this time around.  Although, I'm not sure that a Rocker Crossbones wouldn't be a cool merger. but I assume that it is the Rocker C and somebody made a mistake there.

This sucks the big one....

I was really hoping to pick up a new '10 RG or whatever they may call it this next year.

I may just have to settle for a great deal on an '09 SERG instead.

they did get the descriptions correct but hardly "dead on correct"

I am not sure if "compete" is the right word here. Even with the low numbers of the CVO line, any model would outnumber the Indian production probably by a factor greater than ten. I think the competition for the CVO line is the regular model, and that seems to be always the case, as any discussions regarding alternatives are typically comparing the regular model plus accessories etc. with the CVO.
Separately the FXSTSE to me sounds more like another Springer (and why not?) or, and I think that is more likely than the Heritage, a CVO Softail Custom (which may have many of the Heritage accessories, including bags and windshield).

Ride safely,
Louis

Only the standard softail springer starts with FXSTS..., with an SE the next would be an FXSTSSE4 if another is done. Note the double S.

Heritage & most other softails with bags starts with FL. An SE Heritage or Classic springer would be killer.

The custom is not a springer but has mini apes, tall skinny front tire, & king & queen seat, old school chopper style. SE model would be cool also, maybe an SE Easy Rider styled Special Edition model...

If it is an FXSTSE, would be a Screaming Eagle "standard" softail, must be 1st edition. Should have a decent CVO "entry" price, but adding the "neccessories" will jack the price up fast... ;)

That is what that I am guessing. If it is the Heritage, that would be 3 baggers in the CVO line for the year.    ???

FXDFSE is not a Dyna, its a Fat Bob

Actually, it's both. The Fat Bob is one flavor of the Dyna platform. Kinda like the Fat Boy is one flavor of the SoftTail platform. I'd hardly say that identifying the FXDFSE as a Dyna rather than a Fat Bob qualifies as an error. It's more like me saying that my truck is a Ford Pickup rather than saying it is a Ford F-150. Neither is incorrect. One is more general than the other.

At least, that's the way it seems to me...

What really seems strange to me is that they are bringing *back* the FXDFSE for 2010. Aren't there enough of them already sitting unsold on the dealer's showroom floors???

Wow!  Where did you pop in from?  Haven't seen your smiling face on here for a while Rick.  I was hoping to get a chance to meet up with you when I was at LarryB's house a month or so ago.  Anyway, you're right about those sitting around gathering dust at the dealers.  I've seen several at dealers around here that have been there since shortly after they were first released last year, and they just aren't selling.  I'm not sure why.  They are a nice looking machine, but if they don't sell, why make more of them?

FLTRX is a Road Glide with a Street Glide rear treatment  :2vrolijk_21: Trust me or not :nixweiss:

That was my guess...

The FLTRU is most likely the "Ultra Road Glide" that folks have been talking about here.

Heard a interesting rumor...  Screamin Eagle Street Glide.  Kinda figured on that,  But heard Harley submitted another to EPA.  FLTRK.  Any thoughts.... Water cooled maybe?  I just thought I'd throw that into the mix.  Heard it from a dealer today.   :nixweiss:

Wow!  Where did you pop in from?  Haven't seen your smiling face on here for a while Rick.

Hey, 1ab... I've been lurking occasionally. Too busy workin' and ridin' to post, ya know! Well, that and... oh, hell, it don't matter. I've just been busy with real life and not much time to post here.

I was hoping to get a chance to meet up with you when I was at LarryB's house a month or so ago.

Sorry I missed ya. LarryB never calls me when it's time to ride or meet up. He did call me after you'd been here to tell me about it.

Anyway, you're right about those sitting around gathering dust at the dealers.  I've seen several at dealers around here that have been there since shortly after they were first released last year, and they just aren't selling.  I'm not sure why.  They are a nice looking machine, but if they don't sell, why make more of them?

Not sure why? How about $24K for a Dyna? Is that not reason enough? Most guys interested in a Dyna ain't gonna spend that kinda dough when a brand spanking new "ordinary" Dyna can be hand for $12-14K.

Well, that's my $0.02 worth, anyway!

The Road Glide as we know it is discontinued per a number of dealers I've talked to , but there will be a replacement , and that would explain the new designation.  We shall all find out in a few more weeks .

Dollars to doughnuts, the FXSTSE is a CVO Heritage to compete with the Indian Vintage Chief.
I don't think so. FX denotes pegs as FL denotes floorboards. The Heritage line is a floorboard bike.

FL refers to fork size. The FL's have the "Hydra Glide" front end (or now what they have evolved into) and thus the 130mm front tire found on the touring line as well as the Heritage, Deluxe, Fatboy, and Crossbones which is why they all start with FL. The only stock modern bike to have the fat front wheel is the Fat Bob, but that one has a FX for its description.

X=Sportster, F=Big Twin, FL=Big Twin with big forks, FX=Big Twin with Sportster-style (smaller) forks, FXST=Softtail, FXD=Dyna Glide

A Heritage CVO would carry a designation of FXSTCSE FLSTCSE, not FXSTSE.

Wouldn't a Heritage be an FLST?SE? :nixweiss: I know the Fatboy is a FLSTF but I can't remember what the Heritage is.

Edited: Now that I think about it isn't the Heritage a FLSTC?

yes, D00d, you're correct.......the Heritage would be a FL, not a FX pre-fix.  For example, my Nostalgia which is a cross between a Heritage and FatBoy is a FLSTN.......the ST is for Softtail and the N is for Nostalgia.  spyder

Caught me 'd00d.  FLSTC is correct for the Heritage, so a CVO version would be FLSTCSE.  These Harley designations get to be cornfusing.

Anyone interested in the details of the Harley-Davidson model designators, please refer to the informative section in the Wikipedia entry for Harley-Davidson:

Hmmm just thinking here....

Please check the equivalent inertia mass in kg for the FXSTSE = 490kg.
It's 510kg for the SE Ultra.
It can't be a Sportster, my guess is a Softail but what model.....

We've been there. What you placed into your post are the 2009 bikes. Not 2010. Total... does that always. They just copy all content and simply change the year. It gets them hits. Only after the new models are released by H-D, they will edit their page.

I assume you posted for reaction, of course we'll all know in about 2 weeks, however I am in the opinion,  no, simply because they can sell them "as is" without offering CVO, but I hope, ..... if that is what you want, you get it, I know for 4 years at Sturgis I told MOCO  do a O/B RG CVO & I buy it,.....they did, & I did,   good luck!

I know of 3 colors for the ultra. A new COLOR called spice candy and a color called purple flake and in the third quarter an all black ultra.

I was at 6 dealers today...don't ask why...but all 6 confirmed that the SESG is coming for sure.  They probably got their info from us, but...  I would assume that one of the colors for it will be what we saw in that photoshoot that was posted a while back.

Who in their right mind would not want to ride a street beast like this....SE Slip-Ons, SERT, blows the doors off any bagger I've come across.....But your right, they can't sell the yellow, orange, or even the denim/blue.

We should combine the 2010 discussions into one thread.
