Detachable Windshield
« on: July 17, 2009, 02:15:31 PM »

I have a SERK3, but met a guy the other night with an 04 SE Deuce. He bought it recently and put about 2k in the first month of having the bike, but said he's getting beat up by the wind. Does anyone know if HD or someone else makes a detachable windshield for the 04 SE Deuce? He was told by a dealer here they do no, but they didn't offer any suggestions or anything. Any information is appreciated.

My wife's 04 SE Deuce has the stock HD removable windshield on it. Previous owner had it. Works fine. It's not the new model with the clamps but the previous model with the hardware that stays on the bike like this one:

I'm running the HD SS Removable, and like it alot, except I'm on the third one now and they keep cracking at the 4 mounting thru bolts.  Now this last one seems to have a one inch bevel around the perimeter which is a real PIA for seeing.  It's right below my line of sight so everything below looks like a funhouse mirror. Drive you nuts at first.

I have a factory windshield and the reason the dealer doesn't show a listing I think is the factory headlamp filler panel has to be removed for a windshield to be installed...this was the case on my 03.I purchased the new quick release brackets and it is very nice as I can remove the windshield  and leave no brackets on the bike for a clean look.

Exactly, that - The filler is what needs to be removed to install any of the windshields that normally would be applicable to the standard Deuce.

I have the tinted Windvest on my 03 se deuce. No need to remove the fork filler, the trick billet hardware mounts to the bars. Quality is first class and made in USA. I think it adds to the custom look unlike most windshields that look like and probably are made in China.  :2vrolijk_21:
