Doing some long term planning where someday, I may take the SED on a long solo run to stretch it's legs...so I have to start thinking about luggage. I have the small sissy bar with a small roll bag on the luggage rack. I would be able to use a T-bag or the like on the back seat without a BSR present.

Would probably just need to add some leather saddlebags. Any suggestions? Can it be done without permanent (or hard to remove) mods? Are the brackets easy to remove? Don't think I want the hard bags.

They have some throw overs we were gonna get for the dyna...I like the plain ones that do not need supports or light moving kits..

I like the throwover idea if it can work with the Deuce and no interference.

Hwy 50 west to east when I turn 50 in a few years...

The HD Deuce saddlebags are a rather permanent install, as you do have to install the brackets, and different rear turn signals, so the removal takes quite a bit of time to swap back and forth.

I ended up going a different route, and ended up going with the small HD backrest mounted roll bag (which is a Half Sac www.coolsac.com) that I leave on most of the time, as yuo can see from my avator. From there, I also got a HD universal roller bag, which mounts very nicely on the back seat. I bungy them both together and it's quite solid. I can then mount a third small duffle on top of the half sac leaning against both as seen in the attached photo. I use that for my helmet or rain gear.

In this manner, I can pack a ton of stuff, and still break it all down in a matter of minutes. Works great, and the total cost was less than 1/2 of what the saddle bags would have cost with nothing near the hassle, and much more storage to boot. On the other hand, if you like the look of the saddlebags, you could add all of the above, and easily rival an Ultra with storage capacity. The saddle bags just aren't my thing.

I have the that Sac roll bag already so I am probably half way there to your set up...I also have the small backrest and rack for the bag.

How did you secure the back seat bag? Any lateral movement concerns? Need to look up that roller bag...

Looks like you use the turn signals...I was thinking read pegs...need to do some fitup with my old T-Bag...

The Roller Bag has two side zippered compartments where buckled strap come out and wrap around the turn signal stems. They also have two straps in back the go through and wrap about the rack. At that point is pretty stable. Then, if you can see in the photo, I use the two forward rings on the Half Sac to run the yellow bungies around from side to side, one on the top and one towards the bottom. That create a tight bond between the two, so I can load more stuff in the stepped area between them.

BTW - I just noticed someone with the Deuce Saddle Bags on sale for $460 plus $14.48 shipping. While it's only 20% off they are new, and perhaps they'd give a deal on the remaining parts needed? Here's the link:

I have an 03 duece and I used "Ghost Brackets" with the factory bags and it works awsome and I can remove the bags in 30 secounds and without the bags on the brackets that stay on look great and do not stick out at all.

$260 for the bracket? Whoa!

I have to say, they look pretty good on the Fat Boy as the mounts blend into the chrome. However, I think it looks a little cheezy on the Deuce.

Also, seems rather counter-intuitive not use the HD Deuce bags in the pic, and use some generic deals? I then looked at the fitment chart, and they highlight what to use when installing Heritage Bage on a Deuce, but bot the Deuce bags?

I dunno, seems they've got a good idea, just need to pull it together a bit for the Deuce. I'd rather drill out the stock studs than permanently mount that drop bracket.

I think this company is out of Chicago,Il. I think they sell all the bags you see in the pictures also. I really like mine and when the bags are off you really dont notice the fender brackets but my arms are chrome . If I had painted like on your bike I would agree they might look bad unless painted to match.

Not bad but I just am not sure it is for me...I would very seldom need the bags on and to be honest, I do feel it takes something away from the smooth chrome...

I installed BOSS Bags, which are readily removable, on my 03-FXSTDSE and they worked great on my recent 12K mile road trip. They come with a bracket that mounts under the fender and the bags attach with air hose style couplings. Other views can be found on my trip site www.tedsbigride.com or directly at bossbags.com. They are not cheap, but they are really top quality. OBTW, I have no vested interest in this company.

Just took some photos. I have the optional chrome bullet caps over the shafts that hold on the bags. The BOSS site also has pics and info. Cheers.

Hey, McGloo,
Did you ever decide on your bags and mountings? I actually bought both the Easy Brackets DUC set and the factory brackets to mount my 03 anniversary badged Harley Leather bags on my Deuce. I ended up using the factory setup (non removeable) and relocated the turn signals. I liked the narrower sleeker look. Anyway I have the EasyBrackets set complete unopened in the box if you are interested.

Thanks for thinking of me SE-Deuced. I just don't like the cluttered look so I'm just sticking with the set up I have. Also, I'm actually entertaining getting a SEUC so investing further in the Deuce is going to screech to a halt.
