I would sure not buy a SERT from ebay.  If it's been used, it's mated to a specific ECM and is unusable on any other bike.  I just traded my 08 and handed the dealer the SERT as it was useless to me.  I got mine from Zanotti's at 20% off.

BTW, it's no longer a SERT, it's now a Super Tuner.  You might also want to look at a TTS Mastertune, they are the company that made the SERT for Harley, now they market their own product.

I don't have the documentation on it anymore.  It was 20% off MSRP +- a few bucks.  I seem to remember around $400 including software and cable kit which have to be bought separately.

From page 35 of the 2007 Screamin' Eagle Parts Catalog...
C. SCREAMIN’ EAGLE® PRO EFI RACE TUNER
This race-use only software package is a great product for making tuning adjustments to your fuel-injected Harley-Davidson® racer and has much greater capabilities than most competitive EFI tuning products. The EFI Race Tuner software is divided into two modes. Tuning Mode, which allows you to tune certain variables of the EFI system, and Data Mode, which can record and display real-time vehicle data. It can then graphically represent the tuning changes that have been made. This is exactly what racers of EFIequipped Harley-Davidson® motorcycles have been asking for a way to tune their vehicle for ever-changing track conditions and performance product combinations. Data Mode can even produce horsepower and torque charts based upon the recorded data from your last run down the drag strip.

The software is capable of monitoring up to 28 variables and with such sophistication, it is the ultimate tool for tuning and gaining that edge on the track. Performance is the key and this product comes complete with many race-use  Screamin’ Eagle calibrations, which may be downloaded and tuned to maximize the horsepower and torque of your EFI racer. The complete kit includes the tuning software on a CD, a communications interface that electronically locks to the ECM. The required cables to connect to a PC and the vehicle are sold separately. The software also contains an electronic User’s Manual that explains the Harley-Davidson EFI system and the EFI Race Tuner’s capabilities. This manual can be referred to as you are tuning on the track or in the pits. Installation and effective tuning requires a high degree of skill and therefore dealer installation is required. Minimum PC requirements are Windows 98, CDROM drive, serial port, 32 MB RAM, and 10 MB hard drive space. For race application only.

32107-01F Fits ’01-later EFI Softail®, ’02-later EFI Touring, ’04-later EFI Dyna™, ’02-later VRSC and ’07 XL models. $459.95
32127-03A Fits ’97-’01 EFI Touring models. Also fits ’95-’96 EFI Touring models when used with ECM P/N 32423-97B (sold separately). $459.95

EFI Race Tuner Cable Kit
32108-06 For use with Screamin’ Eagle EFI Race Tuner Kit P/N 32107-01F and 32127-03A. Kit includes two cables: bike to interface and interface to computer cables. $29.95

New info, as the previous post was for the now replaced SERT:

P/N: 32109-08A Tuning Kit $459.95 Chicago HD $367.96
P/N: 32184-08A Tuner Cable Kit $39.95 Chicago HD $31.96
P/N: 32101-08 Training DVD $29.95 Chicago HD $23.96

These item numbers are off another site and Zanotti's no longer shows a price.  Have they discontinued the Super Tuner as well?

No, what they've done is REMOVE the CD and cables from the kit!!!  You have to buy the cables separately AND the CD if you want to be able to tune it yourself.  I just bought mine about 2-3wks ago and managed to get the last of the one's with a CD in the kit from my local dealer.  I still had to buy the cable.  All you get now is the dongle - and the shaft to go with it!  I really wish they'd start getting some cute parts sellers, so they could at least kiss me while they're screwing me.

Do yourself a favor and check out the TTS MasterTune instead of the "Super Tuner".  There are threads here on the site, try the search feature, and you can also read about it at www.mastertune.net .

anybody got a part number for the SERT for the 2010's

the super SERT is the same part number as for the past two years:  32109-08A; $459.95
however, you need to also purchase, if you're going to do your own playing with it, the 2010 software:  32111-10; $29.95, and the Cable Kit, 32184-08; $39.95.

You can get all of these through Chicago HD online, or Jenni Sapyda, Tri-Counties HD, for 20% off plus shipping.

Thanks for the part #'s. I couldn't locate them for some reason. And I do all of my shopping through Chicago HD or Surdyke HD online for the 20%. I don't buy at the dealer unless it is something small or I need it right away.

Do you know what maps (If any) come with it?

As far as I know, when you buy the new 2010 software, it comes with the basic performance maps (110, hi-flo AC and performance pipes), then you can use the new Smart Tune feature to fine tune it....if you look at page 21 of the SE Parts catalog, it talks about the Smart Tune feature in the new software.

This may seem like a lame question, but.......SERT or TTS Mastertune?????  I used a SERT back in 04 and it looks like it's changed a lot, but I have no experience with the TTS.

If you're not going to tune the bike yourself.  Go with whichever one your tuner is more comfortable with.  You'll get the best results that way. My dealer, sells the PC, Fuel Pak, and SERT, but the tech that does the dyno work prefers the SERT, so that's what I went with.

I do most of the work myself, I just bring it in for the final dyno fine tune. I will ask him for an opinion.

Thanks for all the info.

The SERT was a private label deal between TTS and HD so if you have worked with the SERT you already know the TTS Mastertune product. We have just done a lot of updates to make the product more user friendly and we include the base calibrations as well as Vtune, DataMaster and TTS Software updater. So if and when updates come out it free to the consumer, no need to pay extra for it. V-tune is the auto tuning feature TTS brought out over a year ago for the HD/Delphi system it is well documented and has a complete tuning guide that will help you along. If that doesn't answer what you need then you can call us and get a real person to answer your questions for you.

The vtune is the same as the HD smart tune right?? It will build a custom map from data from the O2 sensors--correct?

Just for the record..the TTS is about $100 more than the SERT if you buy online with a dealer that does the 20% off. Of does TTS offer a discount that I am unaware of?

If you believe that then I got some desert property here in CA i would love to sell you that is ocean front on the Pacific Ocean! They are not event close to the same in how they operate or the final result from using them. Vtune has been out and proven for ~ a year now, Smart Tune just isn't very smart and is going to give this type of tuning a bad name. SESPT cost is $459.95 plus software and cables, Mastertune is $425.00 plus cables. So you go figure your numbers again as Mastertune cost is not $100 more than SESPT

Steve,
I believe he was comparing your MSRP vs getting the Super SERT at a 20% off dealer, like Chicago Harley.  He was asking if you gave a discount too.   :nixweiss:

Thanks Red Devil....

Steve..I meant no disrespect--it was just a question.......  I shop online at Chicago HD and they give 20% off of the MSRP pricing..Doing that math you are more expensive. It may be worth it, but I had to ask.

"They are not event close to the same in how they operate or the final result from using them. Vtune has been out and proven for ~ a year now, Smart Tune just isn't very smart and is going to give this type of tuning a bad name"

Not even close.....the description is close so I figured I would ask.....

Thanks Red Devil....

Steve..I meant no disrespect--it was just a question.......  I shop online at Chicago HD and they give 20% off of the MSRP pricing..Doing that math you are more expensive. It may be worth it, but I had to ask.

Like you say, is it worth it? Is to me. My opinion, of course!

"They are not event close to the same in how they operate or the final result from using them. Vtune has been out and proven for ~ a year now, Smart Tune just isn't very smart and is going to give this type of tuning a bad name"

Not even close.....the description is close so I figured I would ask.....

You gents with Cary Faas mufflers including myself I noticed that the bike is in definite need of a tune. In fact today we went for a 75 mile ride and when i got home i noticed that the right side pipe had a couple of bubbled chrome spots and that the pipe at the neck is yellowish! Man I was  >:(!

If you have the CFR exhaust what tuner method are you using?

If you put any combination of a high-flo air cleaner and free-flowing pipes, you're going to have to retune.  The stock HD's come from the factory at a lean 14.7 AFR with the restrictive pipes.  You let that engine breathe more and run it on the factory tune and it's going to run even leaner, and hotter.

Red Devil:

I have a Super Tuner coming form Jenni--today I think..

Since you seem to know the technical aspics of the product I have a question. Does the new software allow you to "read" the map that is in the bike before you get started and save it??? As you already know the SERT wouldn't so you needed to keep track of it on your computer.

I like to have a back up just in case.......

Steve:

Have you tested the new Super Tuner along side your product???

I would greatly appreciate your assessment along with the pluses and minuses of each product especially as it pertains to the 2010 CVO's that use the new bungs.

Thanks

My understanding of the Super SERT, and there are others on this site that are much more knowledgeable on it than I am, is that when you put the SERT into the record mode, it will record what your current set up (map) is, then if you run it through the new Smart Tune portion of the 2010 software, it will provide you with recommended changes that supposedly optimize the performance and you can accept these recommendations, thus creating a new map, or keep your current map.  I am assuming you have the option to save a backup copy of your map as the dealer when they dyno the bike with the Super SERT save a copy of the map.  I should be finally getting my copy of the software today or tomorrow, so I'll have more of a chance to play with it.  But I would recommend doing multiple records and Smart Tunes.  This should, in theory, fine tune the ECM to a point where there shouldn't be anymore recommended changes.   :nixweiss:  Did you also order the 2010 software CD?  Just purchasing the Super SERT does not get you the 2010 update...another way for the MoCo to get extra money out of us.  It's $29.95 for the software with Smart Tune and includes all the new 2010 base maps along with previous years.

Yes, we have compared the two. Let's start by saying my comment of not event close was from that testing. The new Supertuner is a poorly done deal at best. The Smart tune only allows you to check a box to turn it on. You cannot set it up like you can with Mastertune. What you see on the screen is NOT what gets put into your ECM. There is no user interface with the Smart tune so you have no idea of what went on and why. You have no way to see if you have collected good data, bad data or how much of either. The new SESPT in no different than the last other than adding the new feature. You buy it and you get updates but has anyone tried to update the SESPT lately? How come those that have bought the tuner cannot get the Smart tune unless you buy a new version??? Mastertune get's update and ALL users get the updates! Mastertune is the only current product that allows you to make a backup copy of how your bike is before you start. Mastertune is the only current product that allows you to put it back to the original setup at any time. Mastertune allows you to calibrate your speedometer, Primary gearing, PE mode both spark and fuel and on and on and on that your cannot do with SESPT or any other tuner.

So in short Mastertune allows you to do a much better job tuning and calibrating. It allows you to see what is going on and change it. DataMaster which is included allows you to work and diagnosis your bike if you have issues. Vtune which is included shows you what is going on while making the calibration changes for you. This allows you to make the final decision and understand why your making it.

MSRP for Mastertune is $425.00 which includes the software
MSRP for SESPT is $459.95 which does NOT include software

Price you get from dealers can and will vary so to say the SESPT is cheaper is like pissing in the wind, some times you win and sometimes you do not. One thing for sure is your getting 1/2 the product when you buy the SESPT when compared to Mastertune.

Yes, we have compared the two.

Steve, have more than once appreciated and enjoyed your comparisons of your product to the current HD product.  If you're familiar with the others could you at some time share similar comparisons of the pros and cons of your product versus others such as the Thundermax, Twin Tec or Power Commander V tuning products?

Many thanks Steve!!!

I have the SERT now. It came with my Destroyer (unfired). So I am sensitive to having to buy the new HD Super Tuner software again.

Also, I am a big fan of being able to go back stock. I am of the opinion there are going to be growing warranty issues in the future that may require that the bike be in stock factory form prior to going back to the dealer especially if you have the extended warranty.

Thanks for the information!! Yea it'll be fun sharing notes and learning experiences with you.

I ordered the whole thing including the cables and the "Tuning For Dummy's" DVD. The logger is included with the DVD and not the Super Tuner Software.

I am looking forward to exchanging ideas with Steve in the near future and doing a complete comparison of the "Feature Function List" that he was nice enough to start.

One of the key features of Steve's Master Tuner--for me is that they will upgrade the old security lock and maps. Also for an additional fee they allow more than one bike to use the system. I have a Destroyer than will require the new 2010 maps be installed in order to be compliant with the 2010 AHDRA Racing Rules for the class.

To my knowledge these are not new features in the HD Super Tuner.

another feature not mentioned about the Mastertune is that it Doesn't leave a footprint on your ECM, the SERT, SSERT and now mousesert, does leave one.

I had the Super Tuner with my 08.  It went when I traded for my 2010 Limited.  I had buyers remorse with the Super Tuner very shortly after purchasing it and ended up wishing I'd bought the Mastertune instead.  IF I decide to get a tuner for the 2010 in the future, it will be a Mastertune, no doubt in my mind.

One major issue I had with the Super Tuner was the software.  The version I had would not work with 64 bit Vista, and at the time I figured this out, there was no version that would.  Since the part number now has a -10 on the end, I assume it's a newer version that will work.  Has the Mastertune software been tested with Vista 64?

Not worried, Larry....just those kinda things I like having the ability to play and fine tune myself.  On my old '99 I had the damn thing dyno'd probably 6-8 times over the years, every time I did a major change.  Of course, when I built it, I also did that in stages.....did the big bore, then later gear drive and a cam, then later ported heads....if I ever decide to do anything like that again, I'll do everything at once rather than piecemeal.

Mastertune works with 64 bit XP and 64 bit Vista. We are currently working with Windows 7 and whatever needs to be done for that will be put on the updater for ALL customers once that's done. It sure would be nice if windows would quit changing things every couple weeks but that's just part of what we have to do to stay on top of it. I can tell you all that when we update for Windows 7 we are going to have to drop support for old Windows 98 machines. The new software set is just not compatible. Microsoft dropped support for Windows 98 about a year and a half ago so if you have a 98 machine your going to have to break down and update it.

Thanks for all of the hard work Steve Cole and Charles05663.

I don't have the Super Tuner...yet but it should show up in the mail today....

I'm contemplating whether I should send it back or not. It'll cost a 15% "restocking fee" I'm sure. the "additional cost" of switching in my assessment would not be a show stopper.

STEVE COLE: Is there a CVOHarley Forum member discount available??

Steve/Charles05663  I am recommend that this chart be "Stickied" in a special topic section.

Appreciate the comparrison table.  A lot of that I didn't understand, so it didn't mean a lot to me whether it had it or not.  What I do expect is for you to proclaim your product to be the superior one over the other.  Because if you don't believe it yourself, you're not going to be in the business very long.  I'm sure both have their good points, but what it boils down to, IMHO, is which device the tuner feels more comfortable with.

Steve/Charles05663 would you please add the " no footprint" issue and the multiple user capability to your chart when you get a chance. I am recommending that this get Stickied in a special section.

I am sure its me but doing a search on TT Master tune showed Doc1 at a 10% discount and no one else.

So, if anyone knows of a reliable vendor or dealer doing a discount I sure would like to know.

Will the cables from my 04 SERT fit a new TTS for my 2010???

Yes, it still uses the same one.

As for who can use the TTS Mastertune pretty much anyone as it's pretty simple. Then, it was also used by every HD dealer that ever installed and tuned with a SERT. Anyone that has a SERT or has worked with the SERT just needs to open the software and go under Help and About and guess who's name you will see owns the product!

Steve:

I have a "box" sitting in front of me as we speak containing "the other product".

I think the best course of action for me is to download your instruction manual and read it throughly along with your very detailed feature comparison post.

Then I'll decide whether or not to send this package back and buy yours.

I do have to admit you have given me a lot to think about and I sincerely appreciate it!!!!

THANKS VERY MUCH!!

Thanks.
I saw that one but the post from Doc is about a year old. The other issue with doc's kind offer is that the way he wants to be paid almost negates the discount. The sales tax in Florida is about 7% depending on the county. So in the end you'll be right at retail.

Still looking though.

As the manufacture and per forum rules I stay out of the pricing part of things other than MSRP. Just remember that things I compared for you do not event include V-tune, DataMaster and the updater! The new Smart tune is pretty poor and rumor has it HD is figuring that out already and telling dealers not to use it on Vrods already as there are issues. The things we have are in the product because we know they need to be there to do a proper tune, while not all bikes will need to change the same things we allow you to if you need to, the others do not.

The choice is always up to the customer but there is an old saying and it holds true more times than not,YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. This is a case where we give you a lot more with a proven product and HD is still trying to figure it out on your dime!

Steve:

I'm still reading.... I printed out the instruction manual and the install manual and they are easy to understand so far. Somebody did a very good job in the documentation department.

I would like to take credit for it but I suck at written instructions. The technical end comes pretty much from me but all the credit for the making it work and look good goes to one of the other engineers here.

Just released another batch of calibrations for the 2010 DBW bikes. There is now a total of 13 released so far. I've got about 3 or 4 more to finish next week before I'm done but this should be more than enough for most all of you. Good luck and happy tuning!

Thanks for the update Steve. Does Mastertune have any plans to offer a Mac compatible version of the software? It sure would be helpful for some of us  ;)

Thanks,

I've tried most of the others and have to say this;

If you get something else, you will one day wish you had the TTS mastertune instead...

I loved the "caveman" reference. Steve has an exceptional quality product that even works for us guys with brain damage.
