I had the Super Tuner with my 08.  It went when I traded for my 2010 Limited.  I had buyers remorse with the Super Tuner very shortly after purchasing it and ended up wishing I'd bought the Mastertune instead.  IF I decide to get a tuner for the 2010 in the future, it will be a Mastertune, no doubt in my mind.

One major issue I had with the Super Tuner was the software.  The version I had would not work with 64 bit Vista, and at the time I figured this out, there was no version that would.  Since the part number now has a -10 on the end, I assume it's a newer version that will work.  Has the Mastertune software been tested with Vista 64?

Yes, we have compared the two. Let's start by saying my comment of not event close was from that testing. The new Supertuner is a poorly done deal at best. The Smart tune only allows you to check a box to turn it on. You cannot set it up like you can with Mastertune. What you see on the screen is NOT what gets put into your ECM. There is no user interface with the Smart tune so you have no idea of what went on and why. You have no way to see if you have collected good data, bad data or how much of either. The new SESPT in no different than the last other than adding the new feature. You buy it and you get updates but has anyone tried to update the SESPT lately? How come those that have bought the tuner cannot get the Smart tune unless you buy a new version??? Mastertune get's update and ALL users get the updates! Mastertune is the only current product that allows you to make a backup copy of how your bike is before you start. Mastertune is the only current product that allows you to put it back to the original setup at any time. Mastertune allows you to calibrate your speedometer, Primary gearing, PE mode both spark and fuel and on and on and on that your cannot do with SESPT or any other tuner.

So in short Mastertune allows you to do a much better job tuning and calibrating. It allows you to see what is going on and change it. DataMaster which is included allows you to work and diagnosis your bike if you have issues. Vtune which is included shows you what is going on while making the calibration changes for you. This allows you to make the final decision and understand why your making it.

MSRP for Mastertune is $425.00 which includes the software
MSRP for SESPT is $459.95 which does NOT include software

Price you get from dealers can and will vary so to say the SESPT is cheaper is like pissing in the wind, some times you win and sometimes you do not. One thing for sure is your getting 1/2 the product when you buy the SESPT when compared to Mastertune.

Not worried, Larry....just those kinda things I like having the ability to play and fine tune myself.  On my old '99 I had the damn thing dyno'd probably 6-8 times over the years, every time I did a major change.  Of course, when I built it, I also did that in stages.....did the big bore, then later gear drive and a cam, then later ported heads....if I ever decide to do anything like that again, I'll do everything at once rather than piecemeal.

Mastertune works with 64 bit XP and 64 bit Vista. We are currently working with Windows 7 and whatever needs to be done for that will be put on the updater for ALL customers once that's done. It sure would be nice if windows would quit changing things every couple weeks but that's just part of what we have to do to stay on top of it. I can tell you all that when we update for Windows 7 we are going to have to drop support for old Windows 98 machines. The new software set is just not compatible. Microsoft dropped support for Windows 98 about a year and a half ago so if you have a 98 machine your going to have to break down and update it.

Yea I agree that's very important!!!

WE NEED A FEATURE/FUNCTION COMPARISION  OF THE LEADING SOLUTIONS.

Here is something I did long ago so it doesn't event cover Vtune, DataMaster and the software updater that come with Mastertune, but you should get the idea.

Thanks for all of the hard work Steve Cole and Charles05663.

I don't have the Super Tuner...yet but it should show up in the mail today....

I'm contemplating whether I should send it back or not. It'll cost a 15% "restocking fee" I'm sure. the "additional cost" of switching in my assessment would not be a show stopper.

STEVE COLE: Is there a CVOHarley Forum member discount available??

Steve/Charles05663  I am recommend that this chart be "Stickied" in a special topic section.

Steve,
Appreciate the comparrison table.  A lot of that I didn't understand, so it didn't mean a lot to me whether it had it or not.  What I do expect is for you to proclaim your product to be the superior one over the other.  Because if you don't believe it yourself, you're not going to be in the business very long.  I'm sure both have their good points, but what it boils down to, IMHO, is which device the tuner feels more comfortable with.

Steve/Charles05663 would you please add the " no footprint" issue and the multiple user capability to your chart when you get a chance. I am recommending that this get Stickied in a special section.

I am sure its me but doing a search on TT Master tune showed Doc1 at a 10% discount and no one else.

So, if anyone knows of a reliable vendor or dealer doing a discount I sure would like to know.

Will the cables from my 04 SERT fit a new TTS for my 2010???

Yes, it still uses the same one.

As for who can use the TTS Mastertune pretty much anyone as it's pretty simple. Then, it was also used by every HD dealer that ever installed and tuned with a SERT. Anyone that has a SERT or has worked with the SERT just needs to open the software and go under Help and About and guess who's name you will see owns the product!
