Gold-Leafing paint?
« on: August 31, 2009, 05:17:08 PM »

So -

Anybody know why the "Authentic, 20-carat gold leafing graphics ... " looks silver on the Candy Cobalt and Tequila Sunrise models? I've never seen gold leafing in any color but ... well ... gold.

Anyone more familiar with it? I've become curiouser and curiouser over it.

Gold leaves can be made in several colors, not only yellow gold. I have used white gold leaves on my JJF bike.

Cool ... thanks.
Is this analogous to "white gold" and the like?

Precisely.  All gold leaf is is gold that has been "pressed" down so thin that it's like a sheet of aluminum foil.  Then you can do decal cut out, wrap, or just generally apply the gold foil as you wish.  Gold foil is actual gold, not paint.  so the leafing that is on the Red and Blue SESG is actually almost a white gold, compared to the yellow gold on our Cap'n Morgans.  :)

I am thinking I really want to find someone to add matching Gold Leaf to the Fairing and Front Fender of my 2010 SESG...seems to need it compared with my 08 CUSE...

and the pale gold does look nice with BLUE!

Several of the '07 SERK owners have added hard bags complete with gold leaves. I had it done as a perfect match. Others have added a fairing, again with gold leaves. I am sure, digging into those posts will help anyone to find painters and see results.
