Harley Oil Temp DipStick... Finally Released !
« on: April 23, 2009, 02:26:23 PM »

Harley finally released the "Oil-Temperature-DipStick" for the Dyna and Dyna CVO Fat Bob. Saw it on their website under new stuff.
Chrome one on the left and Black one on the right. Click "View 2" on the chrome one to see the Dyna version.

Part Number (Black) 63065-09 and (Chrome) 62974-09. Says it fits 06 and later Dyna. List for $139.95

I ordered mine last week Thursday (4-16-09) from my local dealer and it came in yesterday 4-22-09 (Tuesday).
I got the Black one. (already too much chrome on this bike)

I know the part number is correct for the chrome one. The Harley dealer has a supplemental New Accessories catalog with the correct picture and part number being 62974-09.

Can't wait for tomorrow (temps in the mid 70's). I'll get to finally see what the Hot oil temp is.

I picked mine up today and the dealer said he thought it is a 30 day warranty.

FYI.......Mine reads "HI OIL" when it is actually just perfect, so beware that yours may not read accurately either. But as long as you know where "Full" is you'll be fine.

The oil expands as it gets hot. If you're full when the bike is cold it will always read "hi oil" when hot. It's essentially overfilled when hot. Use no more than 3.5 qts. at oil change. Also, you need to have the motor off for a few minutes before checking. You'll get an error message otherwise. Let the oil settle down and you'll get a reading. ;)

While mine is on an ultra, I just thought I would share that the Level feature crapped out quite a while ago...the temp works fine but the level never gets read and the four? dots of the level display just scroll up and down.

The scrolling usually occurs when the oil is unsettled, then it normally goes to "error". Have you tried waiting 5-10 minutes to see if it settles down and works again Bill?

Tried all that and taking it out and "cleaning" it and letting it sit overnight outside the bike.  Tried it hot, cold, pre-oil change, post oil change...does the same thing...

Mine always USED to scroll.

POS - On the way down to MV 400 miles of my 750 were in the rain, sometimes very heavy.

Had moisture in the LCD sometime after the first 200, but it still worked.

Dead now, pulled it apart last night and it is fried inside.
