Saw this set up on Paul Yaffee's bike - sounded really good.  Do you lose the storage in your compartments? Who makes the mounting kit for the head unit?

Looks great.

the speakers are shallow mount they are only 1 1/2" deep. they fit between the inner fairing and glove boxes. cant even tell they are in there. no loss off storage at all. stereo installation kit from hawg wired. also have their adaptor so all my hand controls work, even while watchin a dvd. can flip through ipod soungs with the controls. i mounted my ipod in the left hand glove box. no worries about the ipod getting wet.

What brand are the speakers?  Thinking of upgrading my RG also.

in dash are hertz. the side mounts are pioneer. only cost $40.00 bucks from best buy. what a difference they made. best $ 40.00 bucks i spent. I was told i would have to take the inner fairing off to cut the holes. i did not do it that way. i simply took outer fairing off. used the template from pioneer and cut the holes with a dremel tool with a cutoff wheel attached. took maybe an hour to get the speakers mounted and outer fairing put back on. piece of cake. they look great and sound awesome. i would recommend it to anyone looking to add additional speakers. hope this helps.

Thanks - now I just have to get up the nerve to cut big holes in the fairing!

I love the idea as to where you placed the 2 new side speakers. My questions deals with the sound separation. Do you hear the four speakers in stereo? Ie Left side right side?  Just wondering how much different sound would be if the added 2 speakers where in the saddle bags? 8)

I ran the speakers in parallel so the sound is the same. just much louder. i had speakers mounted in my bags on my street glide, problem was when it rained the water would get into the bags and drench everything. didnt hurt the speakers. just didnt like not having dry storage.

Thanks for the reply BADBAGG. I have another question I'd like to put out here. I have noticed a lot of vibration from the front/ fairing while cranking my stock system. At first I thought it was coming from else where, however when I turned the volume down the vibration stopped.  Sooo. Has  anyone else experienced this and Have you noticed vibration with your speakers in the side of the fairing? I want to up grade my system this winter and am looking at all possibilities.  8)

I have not had any issues like that. I wonder if your fairing bracket is cracked. :nixweiss:

Check all connections carefully, when you take outer fairing off, notice if anything feels loose. check the span on your fairing support bracket. one way is to loosen them, stand the bike up, start the bike, vibration should settle them in a balanced position, then while keeping the bike upright, have you assistant, wife, kid, neighbor lady, whatever, . tighten the brackets back, then torque.
go to a car stereo shop and get some Dynamat, they have a dealer search on their website
www.dynamat.com
line as much of the fairing as your wallet can handle.

:2vrolijk_21: I love the speakers on the inside of the fairing. I have already upgraded to a sony head and Infinity 6"x8" speakers and a 150w biketronic amp. I would love to add the extra speakers. I was wondering if you could tell me are the pioneer speakers water proof aka marine grade? That would be my only concern since every road trip seems to include some rain.  :nixweiss:
