Screamin Eagle Performance Tire
« on: December 14, 2005, 06:58:15 PM »

Would anyone have any more information on this tire? The website says it has a different compound but doesnt offer what kind of trade off in reduced wearability this presents. The tread pattern and profile looks preaty good from what can be seen in the picture. Also no price listed. My bike is in for service now and needs a tire. I asked my dealer and they said they couldnt get any more info on this tire.

I would imagine if it's a performance tire, that would make it a softer (stickier) compound which would make for less durability. However this could be more fun on the twisties  ;D I've also been told that you can estimate a few thousand miles less with a wider tire then with a stock tire when you put the wide tire kit on. Now that bikes are coming from factory with larger tires on them, not sure if this still holds true.

Hey Reo, looks like you're gonna have to 'take one for the team' and road test this tire and report back.  We'll expect interium reports on the wear/traction/rideability (I don't know what that means) and maybe even 'looks' and 'coolness' factor as the miles are recorded.  Har!  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] spyder

I think the first time we saw tires with the Screamin' Eagle logo was on the rear of the 2005 SE V-Rod, but they don't even list an application for those. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

The tire is not a Radial Tire
As the tire is GT502 150/80B16 Blackwall - "B" denotes Bias "R" would be Radial

The new 06 SE Fatboys have Radial Tires vs. Bias

I honestly can't answer your question of difference, my guess softer compound

Jeff, thanks, I didn't realize the V-Rods were equipped with radials!  Liquid cooling and radials, wow, those things are really advanced (for a Harley ;))!  ;D

Looks like this is so new that even the Dunlop site doesn't have it yet.

OK, Reo.  Sounds good, my man.  Just keep us up to date w/ progress and mileage reports.  Just for a baseline to measure against.....how many miles do you usually get out of a tire?   [smiley=nixweiss.gif]  spyder

I picked up the 150/80x16 for $121 and have about 3000 miles on it . The tread pattern is similar to the ME 880 , it is a little stiffer . Traction wet and dry is good the Metzeler has a slight edge. I'lll probably go back to the Metzeler when this one wears out , it had been an OK tire

What tire are you running on the front with the gt 502 on the back, and what front tire did you have on with the me 880. I have the me550's on my beemer and this tire has the same profile as the metz. I like the ride from the gt 502 so far but need some more miles to give more input.

Here's a comparison of the gt502 150/80 E/16 M/C71V to my wifes bike with a MU85 B16 M/C 77H on back. I know the tires are dirrerent size/profile but I believe the Dunlop she has is simular to the tread pattern that I had on my old tire.
