Stock Muffler Alignment
« on: November 21, 2009, 09:01:06 AM »

The stock muffler on my bike is out of alignment toward the left when looking at it from behind.  I dropped it off at the dealer this past weekend for the 1K mile service and asked them to adjust it for me.  When I picked up the bike they told me that there is no adjustment built it due to the bracket under the saddle bags.  I just can't believe that there is no way to adjust it.

You guys have any ideas?  Between the seat gap and the left muffler who would know this was a 32K bike....  total crap!

Left muffler off center is a common problem, do a search, Larry B and others have given detailed instructions to correct.

Just loosen the muffler pipe clamp and twist the muffler to the best alignment. Twisting the muffler will move the muffler side to side. :2vrolijk_21:

I guess I'm confused on the twisting or rotating the muffler.  I can see where you could rotate it where it goes into the header pipe but I don't understand how it can be rotated at the other end under the bags due to the way it is mounted up.  Maybe this will make more sense once I get started on it and get everything loosened up.
