Accessory terminal block?? where??
« on: January 12, 2010, 08:49:29 AM »

I believe I read somewhere in the advertisement for this bike that there would be an accessory terminal block under the seat for all these accessories we would be buying (ie Battery Tender, heated clothing module, air horn, and maybe some others that haven't been invented yet)  Have I missed it?  There is a small grey plug tucked just forward of the battery beside the antenna module that has a large red wire that goes nowhere.  Not sure what it is but don't think it is what I have been looking for?  Have I missed the tender block??

Thankyou, I will look for that this evening.  Don't remember seeing it.  But if it is something I have to purchase separately, not sure it will fit anywhere under the stock seat.  Isn't too much room under there for anything.  Looks like you have the 6-gang terminal.   That would be great if it would fit somewhere.  Is the picture on your softail convertible???

I have poked around under the seat once or twice and it was not readily apparent. I wound up installing my battery tender directly to the battery terminals.

Yeah that's all good until you get the Boogie Lights, then add the thermal gear, then add the Tender, then .....well you get the idea.

I think that is what Porky was getting at.

Not sure how I highlight this 'quote' but yes, that's the idea!

Mike, when you hooked your BT to the battery, did you disarm the sireeeeeen 1st like the book says?  I forgot about that part until I peeled myself off the ceiling (as someone on here described earlier....ha!) and then followed the destructions when hooking up my air horn..    After that is when I began experienceing the somewhat different actings of the security system that I described in my other thread.  Just wondering..........

Murrel, I sure did thanks to your earlier post :) . So far everything seems to be working OK. I have never been able to get it into chirp mode when it arms so I wonder if I am missing something. I plan to dig into the alarm soon as I ordered the additional module that supports the pager. I took a quick look and I think the alarm is tucked away pretty tight in front of the oil tank. Not sure how to get in there yet for the install but I am looking forward to playing around with it. At least it's something to do while the roads are icy...

Here is what my buddy and I made to fit under the seat with 3 inch clearance.

It is a terminal block and I just screwed it to the battery cover.

Took the existing fused battery tender wires and used them for power to this red/white gizmo we made.

we are going to make them in solid black in the future as this was the first one.

Wired both heated gear connections and battery tender and now the battery terminals are clean looking.
