Recall
« on: January 15, 2006, 09:18:26 AM »

Did anyone ever receive a recall notice on the brake lines??  According to NHTSA the recall was issued in mid Sept and may involve 288 units.   [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

OK, so of the several thousand 05 and 06 bikes built most of us won't be among the 288 covered by the recall and produced very late in the 05 and very early in the 06 model year.

Took delivery on an Autumn Haze in late September. Thanks to this site, was able to alert the dealer before delivery. They were not aware of the recall at the time. The problem was corrected at the factory before my haze was built.

The actual recall notice will only be sent to the owners of the 288 units that H-D determined were built with the suspect batch of brake lines.  If you didn't receive a notice and are worried about it, your dealer can check your VIN against the Harley database and verify if your bike is involved or not.

Here is the quote from my dealer on November the 9th.

"OK there was a recall for the bikes built between June 1st and July 8th.  The problem was the where the joint met the fitting it was soldered improperly.  The problem has been remedied though so yours will be golden."

I have not received a recall either.
