Sound of V&H ovals...
« on: January 16, 2006, 06:28:02 PM »

Hey Kids, here I am again with an unanswerable question.  Can anyone out here compare the sound of the V&H ovals on a 103" to something else that I might have heard?  Loudness, sharpness, etc is what I'm most curious about...   [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

i had the v&h ovals with both my stock y pipe, and bassani true duals.
i loved the look, fit, finish, and sound.
however i do not think they work well with the 103 motor.
huge dip in the torque from say 1500-2500 rpms.
don't hold me to the exact #'s because i have so many dyno sheets, i wouldn't even know where to look for that one.
just my oppinion.

I had the V&H ovals with the stock head pipes. Now have the Freedom true dual setup. No comparison in sound. True duals freedom setup is the way to go. Spend the dough. Get the racetuner though!

Very happy with my V&H Ovals. They have a beautiful deep rumble - very distinctive and seem to perform very well. I'd recommend them to anyone and will report again as I get more miles on them.  8-)

I have, about 6000 miles on the set, with the V&H header pipes (true duals).

I picked the ovals because of the look. If I was after absolute performance I would not have bought an Electra Glide in the first place.
The bike runs great, strong, sounds good too. Although I don't know what to compare it to. This is my first dresser and with the sound coming off of both sides it just doesn't sound like the staggered duals.

2 reasons I didn't pick the Reinhardt's, although I was close.
1. I didn't like the sound, I thought it was to loud for a dresser,
2. Everyone has 'em

I have ovals on my seeg, the sound is not as loud as the Reinhardts.I am in the process of adding bassani head pipes and a racetuner over the winter.I will post dyno numbers when the dealer is done. But I am happy with the look and sound of the ovals. [smiley=pumpkin.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]I have been putting off the dealer on the install because I have been waiting on Zippers update on new cam setup. My dealer is a Zippers dealer.

HDNut,

I am waiting on Zippers to approve the findings or to say they are going back to the drawing board.   I don't have the final say so i must wait for them to go over the information.

How much quieter are the V&H Ovals?  Any way to quantify that?...
