« on: April 08, 2010, 07:05:08 AM »

KENOSHA, Wis. -- A U.S. Army soldier who was visiting his two sons was killed Tuesday afternoon in a motorcycle crash.

James MacCruthers, 34, was riding westbound on 75th Street when he lost control and he tried to make a curve, Kenosha police said.

He hit a concrete median and then struck a metal pole and was ejected from the motorcycle.

MacCruthers was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

MacCruthers was stationed at Fort Campbell Kentucky and was scheduled to deploy at the end of the month.

MacCruthers' father, James Mullen, of South Carolina, told 12 News MacCruthers was not from Kenosha and that he had arrived in Kenosha Monday night.

Did that quote from his mom in the comments to the story actually say that he was speeding and drinking?  Uhm, looks like alcohol may have been a factor.
