Wife's new bike
« on: May 10, 2010, 05:58:35 PM »

My wife Cindy took the motorcycle safety course about a month ago and then got her license.  Friday we bought her a 2006 Sportster 1200Low.  I'm really proud of her as she is doing really well riding.  She is still a little nervous, but I told it's about seat time, experience and getting comfortable with her own abilities.  She is having a blast though.

Congrats on the new ride Cindy.

My wife would tell you to plan a three or four day trip with all the daylight hours in the saddle and you'll come back a different (more confident) rider. :2vrolijk_21:

Nicely done!    Just rode back from a week at Surfside Beach following my bride on her RK.  She went the same route your wife did by taking the course and buying a Sportster for her first bike.  13 years later we're enjoying the heck out of riding together.

GodSpeed on a safe journey for the both of you.

That's pretty much the plan for us.  We live in a small town (1500 people) so right now it's just riding around town and once in awhile out on the highway.  Next weekend we plan on going on a bit longer ride on the highway from small town to small town, but staying away from the larger city in our area.

It's funny you say that.  She said to me that she never sees herself getting a bigger bike.  I laughed and told her you say that now, because I did, but after awhile you'll want a bigger bike.

Good advice staying away from the heavy traffic until handling the scooter becomes a lot more familiar 'cause you know how fast stuff happens!  :o Congrats and ride safe.  :2vrolijk_21: spyder

Congratulations!!!! Now it begins. My wife started on a Buell Blast. Within two months ordered her 883 Hugger. Then on to a Deuce and now on a CVO Springer! She is my best riding Bud. Also helps keep the squawking down when I make the inevitable changes to my ride. Of course then she wants to make the same changes to hers. Good Luck and ride safe.

Congrats to your wife Cindy!! I too started on a Sporty and loved it. I never thought I would get a bigger bike, but 13,000 miles later I sat on a streetglide and fell in love with it. Riding together is the best...Hope you enjoy many miles together!

Congrats Cindy. Always nice to see more woman on bikes. My wife took the motorcycle training course and got her license on her 60th birthday. She started on a 650 Yamaha, but that only lasted until she saw and bought a new V-Rod. One year later she had to have a new Screamineagle Fatboy. What's next is anyones guess. She has been riding for several years now, AND LOVES IT!!

Well...the wife has had the bike less than a month and has gotten the bug bad.  Here is a current picture of it.  I stripped it down last week and have sent the tins off to the painter.  It's scheduled for June 14th and should have them back in 2 to 3 weeks.  I'll post pics when she's done.

I told her I don't ever want to hear complain about me adding or changing things on mine.  Weird...she waved at me with one finger. :o

BTW - It appears she likes chrome too. :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:

Remember it's all about deposits and withdrawals... make a few deposits to wifey's bike and later make a few withdrawals (use the get out of jail card for the deposits made on wifey's bike) and do something to yours. :2vrolijk_21:

Couldn't agree more with the other riding couples on the forum. Got Kandy reengaged with riding after a 20 year hiatus. Suzuki S50 first for a season then last year she upgraded to an '04 SE Deuce. Nothing like riding together. We'll take our second week long trip to the Black Hills this September. First one documented here:

Thanks everyone.  We got the tins back Friday and I got them put back on Saturday morning.  Wasn't able to get any pictures because the wife was too busy drooling on it and riding it.  I'll post some next week after I get back home.  I'm away from home for the first part of this week on business.
