Painting frame
« on: June 22, 2010, 03:23:27 PM »

I think I am going to bite the bullet and tear my09 yellow SERG down to the frame and have the frame painted to match the tins. Does anyone have a painter in the Dallas FT Worth area that they have experience with and trust with SE colors?

You'd be better served to get it powder coated rather than painted.

Thanks for the thought, but I will stick with paint for this project.

If you don't mind my asking; why?  Powder colors can be matched much like paint colors anymore and powder is so much more resilient.

Good luck big job ahead, just finished a total restore on a '77 XLCR see(Pictures- Project bike). This was small compaired to what you are doing, lots of wiring, bushings, bearing etc to get one down to the frame.I used a single stage paint (PPG)for durability and to be period correct also when you start back together with it tape up the frame with blue painters tape and lay the motor on its side and lay the frame over it and bolt it up.You probably know all this but you'll be a sad puppy after doing all the work and metal hits metal.Good luck.
