SAN DIEGO, Calif. (CNS) - Two Harley Davidson motorcycle riders collided head-on in the Scripps Ranch area and suffered major injuries, San Diego police said today. The riders, who were not identified by police, did not know each other, officer David Stafford said.He said criminal charges may be filed against one who was believed to have been speeding.

Stafford said a 21-year-old man was going at extremely high speed south on Carroll Canyon Road when he lost control of his motorcycle near Scripps Ranch Boulevard about 6:20 p.m. Friday. The rider slid into the path of a northbound motorcyclist, a man age 25, and they collided.

Both men were hospitalized. The younger man suffered a collapsed lung and lacerated liver and the older man suffered serious leg and foot injuries, Stafford said.
