This has been a great read.  Can't believe the CVO Forum users did the development work for HD.  Just wondering, did the engineer who designed this talk to the A$$ who wrote the instructions or is this just typical for HD?

It was a dealer install and it still doesn't work?

Still like to know if anyone has used the NIM with an Amp. in the fairing. Harley says they can't get it to work because of the Amp.

Suggestion:  For diagnostic purposes, have the in-fairing amp disconnected and see if the NIM works or not.  Can't see how having a power and ground connected to the in-fairing amp, and front speaker wires to and from the amp would effect the NIM.

Hope you get it sorted out.

I just bought a regular Garmin 665 and was wondering where everybody puts the satellite antennae puck thing?  After reading all this stuff in this post I'm almost thinking of staying with my cheapo TomTom One.  Am I making a mistake with this Garmin?  This is for a 09 SERG, so I don't think I can run it through the existing system.

Also, what kind of iPod does the iPod interface work with.  I have an iPod touch, not the kind of iPod that is coming on the new CVO's.

here's the way mine works on my SEURG (NIM installed at the factory).  With the speaker switch in the forward (front end depressed), everything goes through the helmet speakers.  With the rocker switch in the mid position, music goes through external speakers; navigation, intercom, CB, bluetooth phone, all through helmet speaker.  With the Rocker switch in the rear position depressed, light on, everything, except CB and Intercom, goes through the external speakers, including nav prompts.  And yes, you do have to have the Road Tech Zumo 660 or 665.  The "generic" Garmin Zumo 660 or 665 will not work with the interface.

You sure you cant hear the CB through the external speakers with the rocker switch to the rear ?

You're right, I doubled checked and the CB does come through the external speakers when the rocker switch is lit.

How about the tones for incoming cel calls through the Zumo? Will they also override the radio if you're using the Interface Module?

If all the conditions are correct a cell phone call can activate the Nav module. One person on this forum has experienced this condition. Let me go further and say that this is NOT a normal operating condition of the Nav module it is a fluke. Harley wants you to deactivate the BT function on the GPS (when installing the Nav module) unless you are using a BT helmet, see the operating instructions for the Nav module for this little note.

So, phone call tones will come through? I'm installing the XM module and a Zumo 660; I'm wondering if the NIM will interrupt the XM if a call comes through the Zumo.

The Road Tech GPS send a trip tone just before the turn prompt, this trip tone activates the Nav Module. If your ring tone is close enough to the actual trip tone (frequency wise) the Nav Module can trip, but like I said this is not a normal function, it is a fluke.

Ooooohhh, okay. Gotcha. That's interesting. Well, my wife and her sister are both musicians...maybe I can enlist their help in identifying the tone and finding a matching ringtone.  ;D

As in a new part # to fix the annoying interrupt on music tones or new info in the printed sheets that come with the unit?  If it's a new part, I'm going to have to get mine swapped.
