Hawg wired or Hog tunes ?
« on: March 04, 2006, 07:30:46 PM »

OK I'm looking to upgrade the speakers in my SERG very soon, like now. I would like to know how you all like your HW or HT speakers. I'm not planning installing a amp., $600.00 is alittle steap for a amp., (maybe in the future).   Has anyone heard both and how they compair to each other?

2lane,
should I need to change out the ones in the new 06 FLTRI ?
I haven't had a chance to really listen to them a lot yet, it's
been too damn cold to do much riding !   [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

You won't be disappointed in the Hogtunes.  They are the single best upgrade I have done on my bike.

MJZ-I am very happy with the sound of my HT's over the factory speakers.  The amplifier and rear speaker kit Pez is coming out with-the amp is mainly to power the added rear speakers to a Eglide.  He told me you could buy his amp only for your existing front speakers and it would give you more bass.  Email Pez at HT's and he is quick to get back with your answers.

I did just the Hogtunes speakers and still have no bass, is it me or do you have to go with the amp?

Keep in mind that these are a 5.25" speaker and you will not get great bass out of even the best speakers. A complete lack of bass may be due to a reversed polarity on one of the speakers. Double check your connections.

As far as adding the amps goes you will get primarily more volume from the system, from that also comes more bass. The amp kit that Pez will be offering is for the rear speakers and I believe it will only be 23 watts a channel.

Those speakers are from J&M. I can tell you that they are not nearly as good as the Hogtunes or the Hawg-wired speakers.

Remember..the logic program in our radios reduces the bass as the volume increases to reduce distortion..and protect the speakers.  I bought a set of Hog Tunes..one of these days I might even install them...but my bikes are way out in the garage.  Is alcohol good for depression !!

Has anyone put the Hogtunes "UltraSound" kit in?  They provide an amp, set of hogtunes speakers, wiring kit, and speaker pods.  Move current front speakers (on my 04 SEEG) to the pods, drive them off the radio and then put HT speakers in the front and drive them off the amp....wondering if anyone has any experience with this??

To you guys that have tried this--

Where you upgrading off a stock system or H-D Upgraded Premium System (amp & speakers)?

I currently have an '06 Karmon Kardon Head Unit in with Harley's Amp and 4 of H-D's "Premium or upgraded" speakers.  The sound sucks and is not loud enough(can't hear at highway speeds).  I have bought some eclipse car stereo speakers (not in yet) and am looking at adding a car stereo amp in place of my H-D one, but if these systems are remarkably better than H-D's upgraded system, I'd prefer to give them a try as it sounds as if installation would be easier and would not need re-fitting.

Look forward to hearing your response(s)

I just ordered a set of Hog Tunes. I emailed them at 11:30ish pm and received a response within minutes. I was surprised.

I have had several sets of speakers in my bike. JVC, Kenwood, Sony, Pioneer... They all sound good compared to stock, they all sound good for awhile, than they all fail out and sound like crap. I run at high volume most of the time. When going on long trips I wear a full face helmet and while it protects my noggin and dampens the wind noise, I have a tough time hearing the tunes. Hopefully this will work.

Puzzled,
Pez is great to deal with, and fast. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] I don't ride with a full-face helmet (only half helmet), but have noticed the difference in not having to have the volume up as high. Seems I hear more (or should I say clearer) the background music/vocals with the HogTunes. When I took the stock ones out, and compared the magnet size to the HogTunes I knew that they could only be better.

Put a set of Hog tunes in today, didn't notice a whole lot of difference when the bike was standing still. They did seem clearer while running, though I'm not sure if its $90 clearer. Will have to wait until the wife is on back, if she's happy then it was well spent. And I agree PEZ's customer service is second to none I wish all companies where like him. Thanks to all involved for the discount.

I intalled my new Hog Tunes this past weekend and couldn't believe the difference.  :o

The radio plays much louder and clearer then before.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

The best $100 upgrade I've done so far.  8-)
