MT. Cheaha Harley Davidson Loses a Great Man

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Chapel, for Charles A. Richey, 61, Gadsden, who passed away Monday, Sept. 6, 2010. The Revs. John Richey and Paul Clark will officiate. Burial will follow at Kyuka Cemetery. Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Chapel is in charge.
Mr. Richey was a retired Command Master Chief with 24 years in the U.S. Navy.
He retired as the recruiting command master chief and received many awards and medals including the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendations and Navy Achievement Medals. He was most recently employed with MT Cheaha Harley-Davidson and was an avid motorcyclist. He loved his friends and customers at MT Cheaha Harley-Davidson and always said, "If you'll find a job that you love, then you will never work a day in your life." He and his loving wife, Paula, had traveled all over the United States on their Harleys.
Mr. Richey was preceded in death by his parents, John A. and Josephine Richey.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Richey; daughter, Tabitha (Nate) Burgess; sons, Anthony (Besse) Richey, Daniel Weddington and Dylan Richey; five brothers, John (Diane) Richey, David (Judy) Richey, Michael Richey, Mark Richey and Tim Richey; six sisters, Joann (Jimmy) Daniel, Glenda (Bobby) Howell, Judy (Johnny) Rogers, Jeanne Foman, Cheryl (Chris) Harris and Lisa (Ron) Hensley; three beautiful granddaughters, Taylor Burgess, Amelia Richey and Audrey Richey; and many nieces and nephews.
Master Chief Richey will be buried with military honors and pallbearers will be members of the U.S. Navy.
The family will receive flowers or donations may be made to Daystar Mission Team, 779 Boutwell Road, Boaz, AL 35956.
Special thanks to Dr. Thomas Corley and hospice nurse Wendy Hood.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
