What is your favorite mellow no hurries cruisin rpm?
« on: September 04, 2010, 01:55:27 AM »

Mine is 2200, sweet on the ears and just enough vibration in the floorboards to sooth my achin chitkickin feet.

Is no one best or favorite.  Depends on where the cam comes in along with what the exhaust does to you.  However, riding a heavyweight Harley at 2200 on the highway is a bit like getting frisky with your best girl before she's really awake.

Nice analogy.

I prefer cruising at 3000 RPM which help provide better acceleration when needed and in my opinion is a more efficient operating area for the engine.  Guess I like it when my girl is a little warmed up already and is ready to move faster quickly because she is all warmed up and can handle a quick move into higher rpms or pull back a little and slow just a bit before kicking it up once again.

I like running around 2800-3000 rpm's. the motors sweet spot is 85 mph (65mph is the highest in Oregon  :( and that is 5th gear only) in 6th gear, but right now any RPM would be good. 6-7 weeks and still waiting on my motor to come back.  :huepfenlol2:

2700 to 3000. I wish there was a comfortable gear on a 5 speed for 45mph. Fourth is revving a little high and fifth lugs at 2200. Six speed help out at 45mph?

75ish...6th gear, about 2400 RPM????   not lugging, just relaxing.....    80 is about 2900 - 3000 rpm, also a nice relaxing time.  Of course not in Seattle, but wonderful out east ( Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North and South Dakota etc... )

Hey Jayray,
I did some research on your 45mph question. 1st gear 5,000, 2nd gear 4,000, 3rd gear 3,000, 4th gear 2,000, 5th and 6th gears not gonna' happen!
My Springer actually is happy at 2,800 to 3,000 in any gear, and if she's happy I'm happy!
