Oh yeah baby, that paint is nice.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]The inside of the fairing especially. Like the look. Let me know if you figure out a way to mount a smaller tach in the fairing somewhere. I miss mine already. Keep us posted as you get it fit up (permanently)

Naitram,

I'm very interested in the type/style of plug you will use.  Just one plug is the only way to go.  Back in my submarine days we had plugs with 128 wires in 'em, but a tad too big for a motorcycle.  But the concept is there.

Looks very nice Neal [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] Is the head unit & speakers water proof? Once it's all buttoned up it's gonna look sweeeeet! I almost bought the same bike from a guy in Green Bay. But I got a call from my dealer that an '04 SEEG was mine if I wanted it. If it would have been black/blue, I would have bought the used purple roadking. Sharp set-up you have going.

Good luck with the remainder,

Grover

Don't know if you've tried the fairing mounted mirrors but I have had them on three ultras and really like them.

Naitram;
I would recomend putting a block of wood horizontally across the fairing and bolt it to the support bars for the back of the radio to sit on. I did a Hawg-wired install in a buddies DF this weekend and he was telling me how the radio seems to bounce around. We decided to make this little mod to support the rear of the radio. Sorry I did not think to take pics [smiley=oops.gif]

thats a good idea, seems pretty solid now, had to dremel the opening a bit just to get the head unit in.

when you did the install di you guys pull the outer fairing, while it was on the bike or di you remove the entire fairing forst?

We pulled it while it was on the bike. We then epoxied the bolts in place to get it back together.

Hey Q,
So if what you say is true, you'll have to fit a Road Glide fairing to your ride in keeping with the FrankenSERK theme. That'd be cool bro and a true sign of talent on your part in fitting it up. You'd have the only one around I'll bet. I'm sure Neil would help you with the wiring, HD_Dude would throw in for a few $$ on the electronics. So what do you say there little brother ? Life is not a spectator sport now is it ?  ;)

Nait,
You bike is the chit man. Excellent job ! Never mind Q and his FrankenSERK nightmares.  LOL   ;D

Naitram,
That looks awesome, you are going to love having tunes and being out the wind/weather. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] I can remember before riding a touring bike w/windshield, fairing and lowers being totaled wiped out after a day in the saddle. Always said I would never ride something with the above on it until I was ready to purchase one, because I knew once I felt how nice it was to have all those amenities I would be spoiled and never want to go back. That is exactly what happened I don't know if I could ever go back to being w/o them again. Again, great job on your project, now get out there and enjoy it, I don't see any of that funny stuff (snow) on the ground, and you are protected from the elements now.

Big Brian,

Elvis had a huge wardrobe.  That's how I like to view my SERK.  I can dress it any way I want.  Our SERKs can wear the proverbial jeans and a t-shirt or we can suit up in a tux if we so choose ;D

2 weeks until I get my DF stuff.  Will have the Dakota stuff later this week [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Just spoke with DF this morning about lower glove box doors, and they said both fairing and lowers are shipping today...  A week early.  Now all I have to get done to get ready for this adventure is send the Dakota speedo/tach to the factory to get the odometer set to 12,500 miles.  This is exciting!

Pix soon to follow [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Thanks Steve, All I can say is you will be very happy with the quality and the people who own Dragonfly are truely good people/ family owned. The paint work is probably as nice or better than stock, and true to color because they use exact house of colours paint as Harley did.

Ken, when I placed my order and subsequent phone calls they have been fantastic.  I still have to figure out a way to get the glove boxes to fit the lowers.  But that can wait until I get all the wiring done and get all the fairings on the bike.

NO , The fairng doesnt cause any vibration or weight problems to the bike, at least in my situation. I think Harley was blowing smoke up your a--

I said this on another post somewhere. If you ride in an area with strong crosswinds, you're gonna feel it a lot in the handlebars. Especially in an area like San Diego county where you come down from 4,200 ft to sea level and the desert floor. The wind howls up the canyons because of the temp difference.  BUT it's not any different than what you'd feel riding an Electra Glide. The dealer is blowing smoke up your ass about your front end. As far as I know, there's no difference between the front end of an RK and an EG - - -Take the narcelle off an RK and the fairing off an EG and what's left is the same.

You can cross-check the p/n's for RK Vs RG or EG's, very little difference. Adding the bat wing changes the dynamics of the front end in the wind, it has to. Improves it in some ways but also offers more resistance when running in side drafts. Over all I'd say the dealer is blowin.

I'm assuming  FLHPI was the model number for a police model Road King with fuel injection ? I would have thought it would be FLHRPI,but since you've got one that's my lesson for the day.

Looks great Dude, Somewhere there's a thread titled "what are these " or words to the effect with some really cool flush buttons that replace the ugly hockey pucks on top of your bags. I'm sure one of the moderators can post the link to the thread I'm talking about.

I've seen those latch's and I will be getting them next, I think the tourpak and fairing originally sat upon a shovelhead
