Just an idea... go to an autoparts store and pick up a piece of neoprene large enough to make a gasket from. Use a compass to get the outside diameter of the filter and make a circle on the neoprene. Use an exacto knife to cut it out... glue it to the cover with Gorrila glue (or silicone if you prefer) ... voila! Substitute a material that is resistant to gas & oil for the neoprene if you don't think that will work.

The parts guy also said the problem is the additional space between the cover and the air cleaner.  Some of the older covers had the centers break out.  That other gasket kit I mentioned has a spacer about 1/2 inch to fill the space allowing the bolt, cover and spacer to force up against the air cleaner's outer plate (hope this make sense).

If somebody really wants to try and resolve this (non-issue) they could purchase the gasket I have listed above and trim it til the fit is to their liking.

Sounds like it's not really worth the effort!

The issue is that HD does not make a stage one Screamin Eagle Air Cleaner for their $32,000 Screamin Eagle CVO CUSE.

Actually, the real issue is why they chose to use a cover that won't work properly with the existing SE air cleaner, even though they are fully aware that the air cleaner is one of the first changes most owners make (I'll bet they sell more SE air cleaners than any other accessory).

Of course, I was the one to call him the other day and tell him about the notice from Harley. He had never heard of it.

Did he look at the box to read what it says?  One of our parts guys read it and said "well I will have to remember that the next time someone with a CUSE wants to buy one!"  We both had a good laugh.  He said he has only seen one CUSE Bike...

His exact words were, "We have put several of these on with no problems". HMMMMMM? Makes me wonder. This site gives us so much information. This is THE MOST informed purchase I ahev ever made. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

I just received my 2:1 Fat Cats today and was set to purchase SE Stage 1 air cleaner kit so that I could ready for the FI download until I read this thread.  I have to agree with most folks here, why in h?ll does moco do something like this?  But most importantly, why have they yet to come up with a fix for this problem.  You would think that they would protect their aftermarket parts market instead of forcing the elite of their buyers to try other third party parts manafacturers.  Has anyone tried the Kuryakyn pro-charger air cleaners?

Anybody have any idea how the new K&N RK-3909 air kit fits?  Same problem or not?

From the looks of it, it would appear to be a better fit.  Maybe the answer is as simple as K&N????????????   :)
