Andrews cam service kit---Are there good bearings in it?
« on: January 10, 2012, 01:34:07 PM »

Just recently got a cam service kit from Andrews and it contains two new bearings, numbered SCE 168 and USA  Are these good bearings?  I couldn't find any manufacturer's name on them unless the SCE is it.  I think I should have just bought my parts individually as the kit only had a gasket, two bearings and a retaining clip.  Just wanted to check as everyone talks about "torrington" bearings, but I don't know if that is a particular style/type or a brand name---I'm guessing a type, but don't know.
TIA,
Steve

It's INA SCE.  Part of the Shaelfler Group.  Post-War German company.  Good parts.

Thanks, just what I needed to know.  Didn't want to put inferior ones in when I get to it.

Hey Scott

Have you ever seen an inner cam bearing failure on the new style 6 speed motors with the larger bearings? I still talk to people with cam bearing fears from the
early TCs worried about the OEM bearings in their new bikes. I have never seen a scored inner on the new motors. Do we have inner cam bearing failures
documented on the new cam chest?
