If you're gonna speed on public streets don't tape it. If you do tape it, don't upload it to YouTube with the title "1000+ HP Corvette Doing 195+ mph." Otherwise, you'll end up in handcuffs like this 30-year-old from Oklahoma.

30-year-old Cody Replogle was hoping to sell his extensively modified Corvette and used the YouTube videos of himself supposedly going 195 mph around Oklahoma City freeways as some sort of enticement to would-be buyers who might be impressed by how easy it is to be a complete and utter moron in the car.

I could use the same road he did and would certainly give it a go. I have only been over 200 MPH a few times.

My guess is that they will have a difficult time convicting him based on a video that wasn't taken by a LE witness.

I was thinking the same thing... charging and convicting are two different things. :nixweiss:

Still a dumb @$$ thing to do... but getting a conviction might be hard to do.

According to the article : He confessed to officers that he owned the car, that he was speeding and that he posted the videos.
If the police also get a copy of the video they can show it to the judge along with the confession. There may also be hidden info in the video indicating date,time etc.of when the video was taken. The police could also impound the car and with a search warrant check the black box or the navigation GPS records for maximum speed and other info.
I don't know how much effort the police will put into the prosecution but I would guess the guy will spend some time behind bars and be a pedestrian for a long time.Not to mention a large fine.
