A used Road King to start.

I never knew what a bitch the FLHR was until I bought my first FLHT. It may well be the most difficult Harley to ride at all. Easiest to handle are FLHTs if you'r big enough.

I went from a 03 Wide Glide to an SEUC, what a difference in handling, after some mods and 10,000 miles I'm just starting to get comfortable. The day I picked up my Ultra I had no idea there would be that much difference in handling. I had some close calls leaving town that day, scared the crap out of me. What makes the King so hard to handle?
My Wide Glide is still way easier to ride than my ultra.

I don't know what it is, but I totally agree. I thought everything was the same, except
not having the fairing. I used to have a 96 yr RK, and always thought it had loose
head bearings. It felt rubbery?
