I have had a pair for quite a few years and they are a nice accessory to the vast array of apparel collected. They are much warmer than regular jeans however won't block the wind out at 80mph. Unless your chaps are very loose fitting, they won't fit over the jeans. They do protect the one area that chaps won't, your butt, and they do keep your crotch warm. Too warm though if you start out on a cold morning and the day heats up though. I only wear mine about once a year for shorter, slower rides, but when I do, they work out fine.

Take a look at Diamond Gusset jeans also. They have a Kevlar type made for motorcycles. I like them because you have a greater choice of sizes, metal key loop sewn in, cell phone/knife pocket and velcro at bottom to keep your pants from riding up on your leg. I wear them year round.
