Yosemite in the late winter/early spring......
« on: February 01, 2011, 11:09:13 AM »

Hard to believe......it's only 150 miles from Sacramento and summer temps go into the triple digits (turn the volumn up on your computer)

Beautiful video. I'm hoping the passes are open for the GTG in June to enjoy some riding through there. I'm planning on doing the Tioga and Sonora to and from the event.  :orange: :apple: :huepfenjump3:  Doc

JC that was cool. Thanks for sharing that! I have been there many times but not in the winter. Looks like it would be worth the trip in car? I know from first hand experience it sucks getting caught in the pass during a heavy rain. I experienced every type of rain and hail and flooded roads with no place to pull over or stop! All you can do is just keep moving slow and hope you ride out of it. I left triple digit temps. and experienced all that on a early June ride.  :2vrolijk_21:

May sneak up there this weekend if I can talk the wife into it.  If we go, I'll take pics.  I want to see this ice flow thing.

Passes should be open but we've sure had a lot of snow.  I'll be in Mammoth this weekend.  They have over 20 feet.  We'll have to see what spring brings.  Doc.,  don't forget Ebbetts pass too!

Amazing!  Yosemite is literally just 100 miles in a straight line behind my house.  Following the apex of my roof for direction, 100 miles lands you right in the middle of the main creek.  If I could travel there in a straight line, I'd probably go more often.

Will have to find time one year to go down there and check that slurpy machine out.

Terry and I have been on the Tioga in July and gotten rain, hailed, and snowed on when it was 80+ in Yosemite Valley. Like Faceracer says you just have to ride it out.  Doc

It says the best time is Mar and April.  We went this weekend and it's already to warm for the frazel ice flow. :(  But we had a great time.

We left yesterday and drove down through Oakdale and La Grange.  Here's the river just west of La Grange, taken from the old car bridge that's now a pedestrian bridge.
