I’ve decided to trade her in
« on: March 10, 2011, 05:27:26 AM »

After almost 6,000 miles, I've decided to trade in my 2010 CVO Softail Convertible for a 2011 CVO Street Glide.  It was something that I've been debating for a while. I really enjoyed the Softail on short rides what a pleasure to ride, but she's just not built for long hauls.  I had a chance to ride the SESG for about 150 miles the other day, and what a difference.  The SESG is built for touring.

The dealer made me a fair offer for trading in my convertible & when I saw the Black Diamond SESG, I said, that's the ticket.  I wish I could have kept the convertible, but just couldn't justify the money of having 2 CVO’s in the garage (boy, only if I had money to spare).

I wanted to say thank you to everyone for all of the great information regarding the convertibles, I really learned a lot.  I'll still be on the forum and will be reading all of the convertible topics.

Ride safe.

Nice upgrade.

If I may ask, what was the 'deal' you got as in trade value, cost of new bike , MSRP + or -

and color of traded bike and which dealer, might be taking a road trip  :nixweiss:

Thanks

Congrats.  Both are really nice bikes but its certainly an upgrade if you're going to be taking more and longer trips.

Once you own a bagger, you'll never go back   :2vrolijk_21:  But, it sure would be nice to have one for fun and one for touring!  I was lucky enough to have that at one point in time, with an SEUC and an SEVROD, but then the real world slapped me in the face... :(

You made a good choice!!  :2vrolijk_21:

I've often said that if you like to ride, eventually you get a bagger.  Nice upgrade.  I hope the convertible gets a great new home / owner!

once you have had a bagger you never go back??

I traded my CVO electraglide for a convertible as I prefer the option of bags and screen on the way to my destination and then have the option of stripping them off and cruising around once I have got there.

"but she's just not built for long hauls"

I sure wish someone had told my wife, before she rode hers to the Gulf Coast last summer.... :nixweiss: ::)

Congrats on the SG!

Great bike you got. I also have the 2011 CVO Street Glide in the same color. I ride long distance a lot and it is a great travel bike. Its also nice to have music to listen to on long rides. I am lucky enough to also have a 2009 Fat Boy with a 103 for around town.
