progressive monotube install question
« on: July 17, 2011, 08:49:53 AM »

Had a cartridge failure on my stock 2005 EG Standard. Pulled the forks to send to Traxxion with hesitation as don't really have funds ($1300+) and noticed posts on the progressive monotube.

Is this a kit I can install or is factory tool required to get the assembly compressed?

many thanks for any insight

You can do it without special Harley tools

If you can compress the spring while turning the cap to start the threads you are good to go :2vrolijk_21:

And if you can't you still don't need an expensive compression tool.  Use a ratcheting type tie down strap.  Cut a slit in the bottom to get the allen tool through and pull the assembly tight with the strap.

Put them on my 05 SEEG with out any special tools. Much better than stock. Wanted to go the other way also but could not afford it.
