making leather tour pak detachable

I have an 06 ultra and would like to make the tour pack detachable. Local HD shop doesn't think it can be. has anybody made their's detachable?

Yes, quite a few have. If you seach back a few years in the SEUC forum, there is a good amount of information on the subject. The couple of things are, there is an aftermarket mfr of the removable rack that you need. Then you have to sort out the wiring, and add quick disconnects. Also, what to do with the amp? One guy actually mounted his inbetween the fender and the saddle bags which was a neat idea, but I still wonder about the longetivity of that strategy. After researching this all, it was the loss of the amp that made me decide against this. However, If I upgrade to the J&M 500w amp, and I can get rid of the HD amp, then that will change my mind for sure.
