Tecate is about 35-40 miles east of San Diego.....in the desert mountains.  The only thing that grows out there is rocks!

A border patrol sits in the  car watching this gate, 24 hrs. a day.  This location is entrance only, in to Mexico.  The entrance in to the US side is about 100 yds. behind the fence...behind the boarder patrol.  By the way....for those going to Mexico, it's much, much faster to get back across in to the US at the Tecate crossing rather than in Tijuana.  TJ you'll wait literally hours.

I asked the border patrol sitting in the SUV "is this the US Border Patrol's 12 most wanted?".  I interupted his lunch.....he was eating.  He said "naw....half of them have been caught.....the other half are dead".   :o  #8 is still being evasive.  :P

Went exploring on my return ride.  Found this little restaurant tucked way back in.....

The white car had a bumper sticker that said "pray for me.....I drive Ca94".   Ca94 runs along the Mexico boarder and is a windy, twisty narrow two lane road with a lot of up and down grades.  I googled "motorcycle roads in San Diego County" and this hwy. came up as #1 in San Diego County on several web sites.

Hey JC, I saw a pic of your bike with the radar detector on it.  Are they legal down there?
Nice pics by the way...thanks for sharing.  You make all of us envious, but then again, your desert riding season is just about over for the heat, isn't it?
Ours up here is just getting started - once we can get these April showers out of the way.  Why don't you come on up to the Ozarks!!

Yes Harry, I do have a radar/laser detector and they are legal out here in the west.  There's only a small handful of states that prohibit them and they're all back east.

http://drivinglaws.aaa.com/tag/radar-detectors/

Been to the Ozarks a number of times.  Babe's father lived in southwest Mo. before he passed away.....so we've been all over that area.  As it is....I still have to work for a living and only get two weeks a year vacation (starting in Aug I start accruing three weeks a year) and this year it's the Redwoods GTG.  We may be back that way (the blues belt from Memphis down through Miss. and who knows where else?).

Due to the deserts that we have to cross and the temps that come with those areas it'll probably be late Apr. to mid May.  I'd much rather ride in the rain than in the heat.  :nervous: 85F here yesterday and again today and there are several awfully big deserts to cross between here and there.
