I like the painted inner fairing.  Other than that, nothing that really grabs your attention.  JMO.   :nixweiss:

I see a lot of subtle things I like a lot, most of which could be modded on ours.  Main thing to me though was they didn't fall off the edge of the earth and have a tweaker design the graphics, I like what I see.

The seat is interesting......the saddlebag speakers, except like the leg fairing speakers, I'm not willing to give up any storage space for more volumn (I travel too much and need all the space I have).....the painted inner fairing should always be on the CVO baggers!  But can somebody tell me what the hell diamond cut speedometer and tach are?  And why the other gauges aren't diamond cut, if it makes a difference?   Once again.....a job half done. :nixweiss:

Still no update on the radio? Years behind the game with a radio you can sync to your phone like the auto industry.

So not to be ignorant but, with saddlebag speakers like that, when it rains...where does the water go that gets thru the grills ?

I also wonder with a removeable rear seat, is a rider backrest still possible ?  That's a must for me anymore  ::)

I thought "diamond cut" was a style of trim ring.   :nixweiss:  But your right, why on only half the guages.  Interesting that they flip flopped the smaller guages and tweeters.

So not to be ignorant but, with saddlebag speakers like that, when it rains...where does the water go that gets thru the grills ?

Play the stereo really loud and the vibrations push the water right back out.   :2vrolijk_21:  I will want to check those out closely before considering adding them to my 2011.  My saddlebags are basically full now, so I really don't want to lose any more space.

I also wonder with a removeable rear seat, is a rider backrest still possible ?  That's a must for me anymore  ::)

I was thinking the same thing.  I'm too old and fat to ride without a backrest very far.   :cucumber:

I see chrome mirrors and a seat that looks convertible to a solo.

Don't know about the rear speaker locations. Appears that the riders legs will cover them??

Chrome instead of painted cow bells and they swapped positions with the tweeters and guages this year.  I like the illuminated CVO Console...might have to upgrade to that...

Agree. :2vrolijk_21:

BUT on all colours the console is chrome. I kinda like the black look. Notice all the tips and rims are chrome too. I do like the chrome tips. ::)

The CVO SG's seemed to have gotten all the attention this year... Not much new with the EG's or RG's to speak of.

I have similar questions as mentioned above regarding the saddlebag speakers, and I agree with JC... No sense in giving up precious storage space for more sound!  If they keep adding speakers you may not here the pipes!

Hmmm.....  I think i see speaker upgrades coming this winter to the krypto! The speaker lids are a little snazzier than anything else i've seen out there.  HD did a nice job. very good looking bikes. I think i like the color combos of the new cvo road glides best tho.

      ;D

Lol....CFR's fix that.....and yes I'm partial to them =)

If the speakers don't protrude very far into the sidebag, for me personally it would be no issue.  I find that either I have extra room to varying degrees...or I'm so dam full a detachable tourpack is my answer anyhow.  My wife likes tunes and I spent a lot of money on the J & M upgrade on our Ultra.  I was immediately impressed by my 2011 street glide in both sound quality and how it compared to the Ultra's upgrade.  To me the SG's sound system sounds better.  I can't imagine what this years would be like and am highly interested in the bike if only for that.  Here's a link you may or may not have read that focuses a bit on the 400 watt system...

http://www.nationalpost.com/cars/Preview+2012+Harley+Davidson+Street+Glide/5133231/story.html

I like the chrome caps on the tank as well, especially on the fuel gauge.  Chrome is far more durable than paint and this cap comes on and off constantly, and although I'm used to taking swirls out of the clear coat on both bikes with the Glare products, any little bit of avoidance helps.  I also really like the chrome upgrades all around.  Yes the black pieces on my SG look good as well, but I also have the blacked out Ultra from 2010 so, for me and my other bagger, the more chrome the better =)

I'll have to confess something here about the Black Ice paint though on my 2011 SG, I think it's kinda shoddy /shrug.  To me the metal flake on my Ultra is far more, how should I say....intricate and hidden ?  When you look at it it's suspended and three dimensional in the paint, on my SG it's like it's just there, almost like it's just coarse dull specks all over my paint, it doesn't really pop or glimmer much at all even in sunlight.  Just my take on it.  I was hoping the black on the 2012 was of a different variety.  Who knows, maybe it was a quality issue last year and this years is better.

The one thing I'm really not sure I like on the 2012 though is the seat set up.  I'm wondering how the pillion attaches and if it's as stable on the bike as a one piece would be for the passenger.  Also, if you do take it off when you're solo, how is the clear on the paint under it going to not be constantly in need of buffing out as well.  Don't get me wrong, I like the idea, just not sure about the application, and as mentioned before, a backrest for me anymore is a must.  I'm not big and fat, but it's one of those things that once your used to it, riding without it plain sucks.  I don't see a slit in the seat as far as I can tell that indicates you can use one.

I personally think HD has done a pretty decent job three years running now on the SG's, steady improvements on a pretty nice bike to begin with, and all three years have bikes I like the paint jobs on.  Two the first year, three last year, and maybe all three this year but two for sure.  The Black one and the Citrus one I think are going to be lookers for sure !!!  Granted you can have most if not all of these things modded to your existing SG if you have one, but if you don't and this is your first CVO SG, I think you'll be very happy to say the least.  Nice bikes indeed  :2vrolijk_21:

I was hoping to see the same rear fender on the Ultra's as they have on the Street & Road Glides.  Love that look!  :2vrolijk_21:

Does anyone have a reason why this might not have happened yet?  :confused5:

Need to have a mod edit the title of this thread.  It should read 2010 FLHXSE, 2011 FLHXSE2, and 2012 FLHXSE3.

i had done the update after pulling an all nighter at work  :nervous:

If the black SESG3 had a blacked out motor, I think I'd have to have one.  I like some of the changes on the 2012 version (illuminated CVO console, and bag speakers) but not enough to buy one.  Evolutionary change rather than revolutionary change.

Jury's out on that one for me, if your refering to the powdercoat and not the actual motor itself.  I was a die hard fan of the black powdercoat, the 07 SERK had it, but after having the grey on the SG I realized a couple things.  The engine area as a whole stood out more with the grey, especially on a darker colored bike, and the grey hid dust better /shrug.  So now I like both, never thought I'd say that either, go figure.

Here is the first ride video.  Kinda funny that the mention the smoked front turn signal lenses as one of the "features" of the bike.

Must admit to being a little uninspired with the 2012 SG offerings. The stereo upgrade is most welcome but really nothing else. The new paint schemes leave not too much to the imagination - I feel the best of thier work was left behind in the 2011 range. Pretty easy to see all the 2012 emphasis has gone into the CVO Road Glides. If they make it to Oz - an upgrade may be in order. So glad I secured an 11.

As I am just about to get my 2011 Krypto and very excited!!   I don't see too much to get any more excited with the 2012 model, I think the Orange/black & Krypto /Black are THE colours to have(Just my personal view!)
Stereo upgrades ?  Coming from Fatboy's I can't get my head round the obsession of blaring out music when riding.........Maybe I will when my 2011 arrives :apple: :jalapeno:

When you get your new ride I guess you will then be known as "StreetGlide63", right?  :nixweiss:

Grizzly, I'm going to have the same problem with my name on this site.  I didn't give my name on here much thought back in 06' when I chose it.  But now I'm getting ready to purchase my 2nd CVO, and trade in the Fat Boy, I am now. :2vrolijk_21:  Can you change your name on here without starting over?

Assuming my dealer has better luck finding me a 2012 Slate/Black SG then they did finding me a 2011 Crimson/Black SG.  But in all fairness, I didn't decide to get a SG until April of this year, and did pick the one color everyone seemed to be looking for, at least up here in the North East.  Could of gotten any of the other 3 colors.  Hopefully, with my dealer knowing what I want the day they come out they will be able to get me one.

I'm sure you can change your name here without loosing any of your history...  To avoid the name change in the future, how about "NorEaster" as your new handle?

That's sure is a real beauty you have on order.  I hope you get it sooner rather than later.

Enjoy & ride safe!

PS - You see, Fired00d already has assisted... Great group of people on this site!

Thanks Fired00d.  And you are correct Grizzly, this is a great site and a great group of people.  NorEaster is a good one, I will see if that is available.

I will be sure to chose my next name more carefully and insure it is not tied to the CVO I currently own.  Because while I can be sure they will always be CVOs, "Once you go CVO, You can never go back", I cannot count on them staying the same. ;D

My thoughts on the 12's vs. the 11"s:

I like my contrast chrome wheels better
I like my black console better
I like my painted cowbells better than chrome ones
I like their new brake speed sensor better
I like their new 400 watt stereo better but not sure about the saddlebag speakers
The gauges shown in the pictures are no different than on the 11's-----diamond cut is a trim ring HD sells and not shown on that bike.
# 8 is a road glide not a street glide
The seat doesn't matter to me because I ride a mustang anyway and would on a new one if  I had it. Also it does not affect the use of the sissy bar as someone asked.

All in all other than  the more powerful radio I am happier with my 11---------that is about the only thing that really trips my trigger.

Look at the bright side.....it could be worse.......at least it's not pink. :huepfenlol2:

Do you have a thread that shows all your mods?   Do you have any good photos taken at dusk of your bike?  Wheel it out on the lawn just before sundown, use a 35 mm digital camera (preferably an DSLR, but a point & shoot will work) and turn the flash off......just using the lights from the bike. :2vrolijk_21:

We never turn ours off.  My wife has a red bike so she has red Dakota Digital gauges and red LED lights around her motor.  My bike is blues and my guages and LEDs are blue.  A number of members here in Nor Cal have color respective lights and we all run them all the time.....never turn em off.

They do look funny at first, but for once I have to say that I like HD's design of speaker grills better than any others I've seen.
I have gotten used to the look of them already and really like loud music, soooooo works for me.

If anyone sees a Red or a Citrus post some pics please.

We never turn ours off.  My wife has a red bike so she has red Dakota Digital gauges and red LED lights around her motor.  My bike is blues and my guages and LEDs are blue.  A number of members here in Nor Cal have color respective lights and we all run them all the time.....never turn em off.

Wish we could do that here where I live. If you run with Blue (Police) or Red (Fire Dept) you can get a ticket!  :confused5: :drink:

In Calif. too, on the blue.  They just don't bother.   I rode from Ga. and N.C. all the way across country with them on my SEEG......wasn't an issue.  Not even when I got stopped for speeding. :nixweiss:

Is the citrus orange on the dark or light side?
How close to Sedona orange is the Citrus?
What doas the Antique Gunstock look like, dark brown/dark red?

Saw and listened to the black n grey at the dealer and its a great looking bike!  I was really surprised at how good the extra audio in the bags sounded.  Liked the illuminated cvo badge on the console as well.

Those are fine. We just cannot have the lights illuminating in a way that someone "mistakes" them for an emergency vehicle. Go figure.  :nixweiss:

Deciding on a color with 3 to choose from! :-\
IMO
Red will aways be around.
Black will always be round. But not necessary black and grey. So this could be a contender.
Hot Citrus/Antique Gunstock is a new color and I haven't see the combination before, so more custom to me.

I have 2 red bikes and thought a color change would be the way to go. :)
So Citrus is the way I am leaning.  8)

Lots of good info and pictures but still looking for pictures of a citrus bike anyone has taken ownership of. ;)

Don't like the ghost flames or the saddlebag speakers on the 2012s.  Illuminated CVO logo on tank is a nice touch.  Prefer the 2011 paint schemes and the 2012 Road Glides over the Street Glides in terms of paint.

I saw a black one today and the pics do not do the bike justice. It just kicks @ss. I think the Hot Citrus will probably be the one that looks most custom and pops in the sun. But they all are fantastic. The lines of the bike are perfect.

Sure is bud....Once I lock down the trade of my current 2011 SG for that Custom bike....all my attention will go into getting a 2012.  I'm first on the list at two different dealers in my area but no firm arrivals yet  :(

I saw a black one today and the pics do not do the bike justice. It just kicks @ss. I think the Hot Citrus will probably be the one that looks most custom and pops in the sun. But they all are fantastic. The lines of the bike are perfect.
Have you seen all 3 colors.
If you have, What does the the Red look like compaired to Hot Citrus?

The only color I have seen in person is the black/grey.

My comments on the Hot Citrus come from seeing it on 2010 Ultra Classic CVOs. The Hot Citrus just pops in the sun and may be my all time fav Harley color. The Ruby Red will no doubt be nice but it looks to be darker than the Hot Citrus. The Hot Citrus on the inner fairing will be to die for.

It's amazing how Harleys website makes these bikes just look ordinary at best. When you see them in person they are totally different...at least to me they are. Harley should consider replacing some of the computer generated renderings with some real photos of the bikes and perhaps add some videos. JMHO

I have decided they produce crappy photos to get us going on about the whole deal. Shipping only one color to start out with, waiting until dealer show, worst website photos of any manufacture, it all equals driving drama! We get curios and focused and head to the dealers weekly to see when the next bike is showing up (purchasing something everytime we walk in) and the we pay out the butt for our long awaited favorite before someone else takes it from our grasp, only to get excited about want next years colors and bikes will be. The pictures sux, but The marketing is genius!

I mean I have my pick of the bike I want when they arrive and I'm still going nuts about what to do. I'm usually not concerned about much and hardly a drama queen but the sh... Is keeping me up at night. Middle of August please get here fast!

Kinda like the Black one but the ghost flames remind me of the flames on the SERK's.

Some pics I took in Sturgis of the Orange. Best I could do with my phone. The color really is awesome. Lots of metal-flake if you zoom in. It seems they have gone to a more custom paint look than my 11. The flames are nice. The rep dumped a bottle of water in the rear speaker. To get rid of it he cranked up the stereo and it bounced most of the water out. Pretty cool effect. You do lose volume with the speaker cone on the inside of the bag. I also wonder 1) how a 200W amp stuffed in a corner of the saddlebag is going to last especially with junk stacked on top of it and 2) how are the speaker grilles going to look after a while. I'm sure they will start fading like my grilles but also wonder how strong they are. I'm sure over time they will get bent up and deformed.

You're at Sturgis with just a phone camera?   :o   Quick......run to the local drug store.....I think there's still a camera left up on the shelf.  Get a lanyard and keep that camera around your neck 24 hours a day! ;D

You will love the tunes once your ride with them for a bit.
When you get your new ride I guess you will then be known as "StreetGlide63", right?  :nixweiss:

Just saying

Got it now.....Love the tunes when on a long motorway ride.....Don't know how I managed without them.. :bananarock:
