If you have adjustable pushrods you might find some slight adjustments will quiet it down.

WE have one coming in tommorrow, with the same scenario.
Will look it over good, but will probably end up with S&S adjustable pushrods, as we are set-up to perform extended warranty work. :)

Please post what you find if it quiets things down.

I had to have my radio replaced (last one lasted almost a year) a couple of weeks ago.
While I was there I ask the mechanic at the HD store about the adjustable pushrods.  He said that if I really wanted them he would sell/install them, but said I shouldn't waste my money.  He said the adjustable pushrods would do very little to help the top-end noise  :nixweiss:

The adj's alone, set to OEM lifter load, probably won't be a pimple on the a$$ of progress, BUT loaded to .140-.150" into the lifter, sure is. ;)
Keep in mind, that is about all we do here anymore, is engine, after engine, day, after week, after month. :)

If it helps that much on the one you are doing now, I may have to make the ride upstate and have you do mine :2vrolijk_21:

We'd ride up to New York myself to solve the rattle problem. We could visit with GH and Raquel somewhere along the way! (although mine is still sooooo much better)!  :drink:

Scott, regarding the S&S pushrods do you have a preference  between the adjustable pushrod kits or the quickee pushrods. I don't have an S&S book for twin cams so I got this info from the book that covers Evos where they show the two different kinds of pushrods. Also what lifters would you recommend? I am getting tired of listening to the valve train between 2200-2800 RPM and might change things this fall. Thanks in advance CAHDBIKER

My 124 S&S twin cam with 640 lift cams was mechanically quiet as far as lifter rattle. My 11 cvo 110 has it just as others describe. Running mobil I vtwin  20W-50 did not stop it either.

550 lift isn't wild lift

If it were not for the distance, I sure would let you intall the ajustable pushrods in mine.  Does anyone know of a Capable and Honest mechanic in central Oklahoma?

I have also had a few folks tell me that switching back to dino oil will quiet down the motor also.  What do you say about this?

Running Harley straight 50 in mine right now....got a little quieter. But obviously the dino oil will not hold up as well or as long with how hot these motors run.
