Life Flight, Medijet, or other flight insurance

Interested in some type of flight insurance. Looks like Life Flight will pick you up from the scene, and Medijet will fly you to your hotel.... rrrr... Hospital of choice. Anybody have any experience with these or any others? I lean towards the helicopter style insurance that will pick you up in the boonies if you are hurt.

I see you live in CA. and maybe they do things different then the East Coast but in Virginia they will use a med flight type of helicopter in remote areas or if it is life threatening and they can't wait for ambulance to get there and travel to a hospital. Insurance is never a consideration since it's life threatening.
Not sure what happens once you are in a hospital and then you want to be transfered to another facility out of that state. I would guess your normal health insurance would cover some or all of the transfer expense? I know it does on a local basis if a medical transport ambulance service is used. If you have health insurance you may want to give them a call.

I've only heard of special medical flight insurance (a supplement) for when you travel out of the country that pays to fly you back to your home medical care. Gets you to better medical care than say from a third world country. :nixweiss:

most of the worry would come from, out of country move you back home.

most corporations have that insurance for employees traveling abroad.

I was always covered my this type of insurance protection by my employer - but I don't know who the carrier was.  When traveling abroad, I carried an alert card with a phone number.

I had a co-worker who suffered a stoke while in Austria.  The insurance coverage got him home on a chartered overseas medical flight.  Another co-worker became seriously ill in India.  Same result - a chartered medical flight home.

Went down in the Texas Hill Country in 09. My health insc. coverage picked up the bill on a $12k helicopter ride.
