06' FLHTCUSE 107CI Retune 8/13/11 - What do you guys think?
« on: August 15, 2011, 01:57:04 AM »

Had my bike retuned today (8/13/11) and the results appear to be good. The bike is really fun to ride (100 to 110 ft/lbs of torque from 2200 rpm to 5100 rpm). Dyno Graph attached, what do you guys think?

Build in November of 2009 was as follows:
1. Swapped my SE103 heads for TC88 heads - Welded Stage 2 CNC ported TC88 heads 1.900 intake valve and 1.615 exhaust valve. Cut chambers to 87cc to achieve 10.24:1 static compression and a 9.35:1 corrected compression with a CCP of 165 at 5280 feet (Denver).
2. Installed an Andrews Hydraulic Cam Conversion Kit with Andrews 54N cams
3. Bored Cylinders to 3.938 and installed CP107FT forged pistons
4. Changed out injectors to SE 4.89 gms/sec (stock throttle body)
5. SE High Flow Air Cleaner with K&N filter and Rinehart True Duals with "Quiet Baffles"
6. 8/13/11 Dyno Tuned with SERT by Randy at Randy's Speedwrench, Denver, Colorado

"Is it fun to ride?" is the only question that matters.  Sure, you could get quite a bit more out of a 107.  But if it's a blast to throw a leg over you're good :2vrolijk_21: .

Twolanerider, really is a blast to ride although the peak numbers appear to be somewhat modest for a 107CI build. Part of the reason for the modest peak numbers are the Rinehart True Duals with the "quiet baffles", but when I used "performance baffles" the torque curve shifted way to the right not reaching 100 ft/lbs till 3200 rpm. The overall peak numbers were higher, but the torque curve was not ideal for a heavy bagger.

The new tune "seat of your pants" dyno is awesome now with no pinging at all. I was assured that my mileage numbers would be good and I could use 89 octane fuel in a pinch with no danger of pinging. Randy's dyno is also a bit conservative and I was told the numbers could potentially be 5% to 10% higher on a happier dyno. The reality is, however, that the bike pulls like a mule from right off idle to about 5100 rpm, great for a heavy CVO bagger! SCREW THE NUMBERS ... LOL

I'm sure your numbers would be better closer to sea level too.

I have a question
Why did you change the heads?
Who did the head work?  Ten Liter?
I had Ten Liter do a set of 88 heads for my Road King.
I did the 95" change with HQ -039 cams
Then I had Randy tune it with the Power Commander.
It came out with 88 HP and 99 TQ
This bike is Very Hot and a Great Touring bike!
I only hope the new owner like all the work I did to get it that way!

...and that is really all that matters.  Torque is in early and stays there.  That nice long torque long just screams VE.  That's a good thing and a happy thing on a big bike.

Different dynos really do make a difference too.  Enough that I never pay the least bit of attention to modest differences.  My 107 reports just north of 120/120.  But it's got a slightly larger cam using Mackie's 598, a 50mm TB and FatCat 2-1 exhaust.  So it's not an apples to oranges comparison at all.  And it's on a different dyno.

You've got good torque in early.  And you keep it all day long.  It's fun to ride.  That's a win-win in any book.  Enjoy it!

Warhawk, I believe the SAE Dyno Graph has a build in correction for altitude, correct me if I am wrong.

RedEagle, I changed the heads from the SE103 heads to the TC88 heads because of the huge valves and chambers that are part of the stock 103SE heads. I was told that the smaller valves (1.900IN and 1.615EX and chambers 86cc would result in better Volumetric Efficiency in the 88 heads, I may be wrong, not sure. The head work was done by NRHS in Longmont.
Sounds like the bike that you sold came out really nice after your performance work.

Mr. Magloo, Randy's Speedwrench is closed today, I may try and have him email or fax a new Dyno Graph within the next few days that includes AFR.

Baby # 1 is almost 2 yrs old and Baby #2 is 10 months.  Kinda crazy we moved to a much bigger home and well with two little guys I have not found much time to ride.  I know this will be temporary and I have many miles ahead of me.

Rick,
OMG ..... That is unbelievable!!! Sounds like a great trade-off to me. Those little ones bring a joy to your life that no bike or ride can provide.  :orange:
