What are the changes from the 09 vs the 12? Same motor and trans. The 12 has better sound system.

The 12 has a blacked out treatment vice chrome on the 09.

19 in front rim on the 12 and a 18 inch on the 09

Tank and console has changed on the 12, with a pop up fuel cap, and then a fuel gage on the other side of the tank.

Hyd or gas adjustable shocks on the 12 in the back, air shocks on the 09 in the back

Handle bars are different on the 12

Seat can be made solo on the 12

The 2012 will also have a helical cut 5th gear so the trans is quieter in 5th.

The 12's have extended one piece bags with a little extra usable space, where as the 09's has an extension added on to a standard bag with a visible seam and extra space is not usable.

In my opinion---------------The handlebars are superb on the 12's . Much needed and change for the better. wrist angle is so much better than on the plain RG custom , much more like the SG and Ultra bars.

After looking ay one i noticed the ft. fender is also differant, lower and not as bulky.

I did not really notice that, seemed like it was was the same as on my 09 SERG.

the 09 is flaired out at the rear 12s do not have this flair.

I'm not sure I agree on that. I just love the bars on my 09 CVO Road glide, do not much like the bars on the road glide custom or the CVO Road Glide Ultra.

The bars on the 12 CVO RG feel ok for the few minutes I got to sit on one, the felt lots like the bars on my Wife's 09 Heritage. To me that means they are pretty good, but I am not sure I will like them as well on long trips or tight curves as the ones on my 09 SERG

I played touchy-feely with a blue today...

1)... dont care for the skulls

2) front fender different

3) front wheel 19"

4) Different fairing mounts

5) No more air gauge

6) Cool audio setup

7) different tank... no more center fill. filler is right side, gas guage on left.

cool seat with solo option

09' CVO Road Glides were the last year of the 3 to 4 man "hand built teams"

12" CVO Road Glide Custom on the same line as standard built harleys.

The bars on my Skunk are the same bend, rise and pull back as on my wife's 09 Heritage. The only difference I can see is the color.

I Don't think Heritage bars come setup for internal wiring but many standard RG owners have gone to them.

I hated the 09 SERG bars...went to chubby apes but they came back too far. Installed the 2011 CVO RG Ultra's bars (very much like Heritage bars) with the CVO heated hand grips and am very happy with them.

I believe the 12 CVO RGs have the same bars as the 11s only they're powdercoated black.

I think the 11 CVO RG Ultra and the 12 CVO RG have different bends on the bars.

Joe could confirm as he has one of each.

As far as difference in the price between '09 and '12 ... assuming the discussiion is regarding comparing the FLTRSE3 ($30,999; $31,145 in CA) and FLTRXSE ($30,699; $30,899 in CA)... the '12 is cheaper than the '09

It's because the "Screaming Eagle" cost more and is worth more then the "Willie G." skull!

The 2009 was very nice and I was in the market for one. But for about the same price I went ahead and bought the 2012. I think that I made the right choice. I'm happy so far.

I fully agree, the rear shocks on the 12 are way better than the 09.

Hated the air shocks on my 09 and changed them out to 940's. I may just leave the stock shocks on this 12.

How'd you like the 940's?.... My stockers are about done and need to upgrade....

I like them, they are way better than the stock air shocks on the 09 CVO Road Glide or the current air shocks on the stock FLHX and FLTX bikes.

I kept them from the 09. I just am not sure if the 940's will go on my 12 and I will put the ones off my 12 on the wifes street glide or if I will just put the 940's on her street glide and keep my 12's stock.

I went by a Harley dealer today looking for parts for my '09 SERG and saw the white/black '12. What a gorgeous bike. I was quoted $35K for the thing! Not a fan of the skulls; they'd have to remove those and give me $30K for my '09 to make that deal...

Thanks for the input... ordered mine today... I think I am going black with the forks and the cans when I do this.. might do engine guard too.... then might get blades in the contrast cut.... sweet...

I did not like the skulls when I put the deposit on my White/black in July. They started growing on my during the wait, got the bike Dec 2. I added skulls to it. So I guess I am liking them now.

Well I did not get 30K for my 09 SERG, but I also did not pay 35K.

The average price for the 09 SERG was 25-28k, I was able to get the 12 SERG for 29.5k out the door from my local store. The bike set on the show room for about a week or so. The market is down in my area and the dealer was willing to deal. Most dealers I talked to want 2-3k above msrp. That is bull chit. Shop around and you can buy right and get a fair price for yours.
